Hey good to have management side of the equation here on the deal boards. But it seems to me that management and csr at Officemax are less customer friendly and sometimes very rude. I went into San Dimas location to get the dvd burner and hoping for subs, they downright lied and said never heard of subsitution policy on that item. On preivous ocassion they also have lied to me on subsitution on cannon s200 also. And they have always never PM anything in that store. When I confronted the management, bee it assistant or main manager with the copy of store receipt showing substitution, their answer is not in this store.
It present your case as if Officemax and management are all innocent and we are just bunch of scam artist on deals at your stores. Until officemax changes it business style and treatment of customer, follow examples from staples, officedepot, then maybe we could come in your store for business. Also have you noticed your rebates always stink and have higher % chance of getting rejected, compared to your competitors.
Also I have been to OM numerous times on sale events only to be told none in stock, happens every time. Case in point, I saw your store special flyer in store, so I told the clerk i want the item. He checks it out and saids we have none, so I ask if any substitution, saids no. The clerk gets manager help in locating this item in another store, saids all out. Then the clerk saids to manager why are we putting this item for store sale flyer if we only had 1 quantity of this item before we even started the sale. They didn't know I was listening. This just shows me the Officemax plays bait and switch to customers all the time, every time no stock on sale items.
All deal hunters know that Officemax stinks, like worst rebate processing, no stock, no competitor coupns, rude csr. That's why we take your flier to staples/office depot and PM there and use coupons and the rebates come every time. The people at staples/officedepot are lot better at customer service.
So please don't act like an angel here, we know better. Why are you begging for customers here to shop at Officemax. Yes, everynow and then, you will get your lousy customer, that's part of life. Take your sad stories somewherelse and don't expect any kindness until you improve your company image, stock inventory, rebate, friendly csr, better PM policy, NO LIES, accept competitor coupons.
then we can talk.
im just the 3 days flyers. He then rudely starts yelling and my manager came out and verified that it's only for friends and family and he is not making any new friends by yelling and being rude to anyone. Then he demanded that I show him the computer that is on sale tomorrow. So I showed him while holding my breath not to lose my temper. Then he said he wants to buy it today for that price. I said no he cannot, it's for tomorrow but if he wants to buy it for the regular price he can. He told me to hold one for him, but I said I cannot hold any sale item since it's unfair for those who will come early. My advice to you all is this, we are humans and we do get angry. Very rare do I run into such a rude person. If you are nice to the associates, they can order the stuffs if out of stocks. Especially the computers. However, the items that are under $50 on the total order, there will be a $10 shipping charge. Since this is a friends and family thing, we are not obligated to honor it though we want to help our sales and serve as many new friends as posible. So the key here is say PLEASE and be curtious. Thanks for your attention and hope we will have more new friends. The sub list is definitely the Cendynes. But the HP 300I won't be sub until the Cendynes are all gone and NEC 1100A are the drives inside and most stores don't have the HP. So come early and don't get mad if you don't get one. After all of the subs are gone there won't be any orders for the DVD writers. The computers can be ordered.
I am sorry to hear of your bad experience at the San Dimas store. However, each OM store is different and by all means do not apply to all OM. Please allow me to explain, the instore ads are mostly discontinued or overstock that we need to get rid off. The 3 days ad is also mostly the same. We do carry a lot of inventory on the sale items. Unfortunately, our powermax ordering system is unfair to some stores in that they send less of the inventory to the stores that do not sell a lot. As far as customer service, people have different standard and expectation. In your case, you probably did not get what you want b/c you came to a store that had little of the item inventory or came too late in the sale. Sometimes we get shipments after the sale started. Since most of the items are discontinued at the store or nonreplenishable, we are force to say that we have no more and no rain checks are given. I usually give rain checks excluding the mail rebates in case we do get them in during the sale.
As far as standards, Staples, Officedepot, and Officemax are all in the same boat. Different stores with different management and associates and it all come down to who care the most. So obviously you have had a bad experience. On the contrary, we would like for you to shop at our store but I will never BEG if you give us the bad attitude when the items are out of stock and no substitutions are available. If you are rude and disruptive then you have almost no chance of good customer service. It's human nature and you cannot blame anyone for that. Though we would like to bring in as many customers as posible but people coming into our stores with different moods and we are of no control over them. We do would like as many to shop at our store as posible. However, either we have the good deals or not, it's corporate who allow the substitutions and not the management team at the store. Please keep in mind that there are many people that still shop at OfficeMax and one customer will not make the profit for us to stay in business. So it's your choice to shop at OM or not. I do however, understand that you are blowing off steam b/c you did not get what you want and throwing tandrums in words. But if later there is another good deal and we just happen to have stocks, then I will see you in the store.
Good luck with your holidays shopping.[/quote]
Any store can have bad employees. Come to my area and you will hear just the opposite , Staples and OD give inferior service to Omax. I hear this everyday from customers. I have a built up customer base at my location(I work for Omax) because for the last 5 years I've taken care of them.
The out of stock issue is a frustrating one for all of us, but it isn't a conspiracy. There are many many factors involved including how our Powermax shipments work, some stores do not get many of certain items due to them being slow movers at that paticular location( hence Powermax issue), the item being in simultanious adds(hence the HP DigiCam+Printer bundle for $149 thats been in every add since BlackFriday), Problems getting the requested amount of stock from the supplier/manufacturer, The item that is on sale now was used for a sub on the previous add , etc etc.
Things are not perfect but I have seen Omax come a long way in dealing with these issues. We have weekly ad planners listing what can be rainchecked , what can be subbed, what can be ordered, etc. It's a rare occasion now that i can not take care of a customer. I'm right there with
Bad_Dude though ,
If you are rude and disruptive then you have almost no chance of good customer service
. We in store did not print the add , decide what was in it , and we don't control stock issues, etc. But we are there to help you. If you are polite to me I will do everything within my power to get you the deal , If you want to be an ass then I'm sorry I couldn't help you. I'm not talking someone just frustrated , I'm talking the people who want to cuss, scream , yell and treat employees as punching bags. I'm not there for that.
snowlion if you have really been treated that badly , I would suggest calling the District Manager for that store if speaking with the General Manager resolves nothing. If that goes no where then call or write to the Corp. Headquarters.
