These are the only ones that have not worked very well with my Pioneer drive.

The repeat problem was the last part of the video would not play to the end on any of the DVD players (Apex/Toshiba/RCA)... the movie would freeze up before it was over.

Great for data though...

19 Apr 2003 3:19 AM They have worked great for me with DVD XCopy (versions 1.4.1, 1.5, and 1.5.2) on the Sony DRX-500UL with 1.0g firmware. Haven't had a single bad burn yet.

25 Apr 2003 11:19 AM I have a Panasonic A05 DVD-RW writer. I tried and consistently failed with HyperMedia media using version 1.21 or earlier firmware. When I updated my firmware to 1.30 with the RPC I have not had a bad burn yet!

26 Apr 2003 9:18 PM For what its worth I have used every one of my Hypermedia discs 1x and have had no problems yet. I use DVDDecrypter/DVD2ONE/Copy2DVD for all backups, bought at Office Max when they were on sale

as always... ymmv

beware though, many have said these are the cheapest dvd's around. not cheap because they don't look good, but because they plain don't work

I also have the Pioneer A05 with the 1.30 firmware and these will still not work for movies. You get to the 40 min mark and it freezes up. I was wondering if the new hacked firmware would work. Anybody tried that with these?

I have burned over 100 with my Pioneer A04 and my Panasonic E-20 and
they work great and play in everthing. I plan on buying another 100. Reading that
people are having media problems has stopped me from upgrading my drive,
because it eats anything.

I've had mixed results with these disks. Pretty good luck with the ones in individual jewel cases, really bad luck with those in the 15 pack spindle (this is a 25 pks spindle).

I have a Pioneer A05 with the 2x4All 1.3 hacked firmware and it seems to like these discs better than using the 1.0 firmware. My Panasonic stand-alone worked 80-90 percent of the time with these discs.

Just remember that these are marginal discs, they may work, they may not. Seem to have the last 500 meg flake out frequently on the discs.

I would recommend buying some Optodisc Gold discs from Rima.com over these discs. 50 pack cost me less than $1/each shipped, no coasters (burned full discs to 4.37 gig) in first 12 burned with hacked firmware on A05.

Beware this media. I have a Pioneer A05 and a majority of these didn't work for me. The initial burn would be sucessful but when watching the movie on my APEX it would stall about half way to 3/4 way through

the KHyperMedia ones in jewel cases ($4.99 for 5 in microcenter) are made by CMC. At least the media info has the characters "CMC". If you like jewel cases, buy the ones from Microcenter. They cost the same.
Unless these aren't made by CMC, I doubt it though.

This media is kinda "iffy" total for this would be around 1.05 each.. tax and stuff...

Rather just get one that doesn't produce coasters... Go with Ritek.... www.meritline.com and a handful of other stores.

If I can get em for 60 cents a pop (using the 10 off ) I might give em a try since I recently went to the Hacked 1.30 firmware.

I was getting all sorts of errors til I traced my errors to Futurama DVD's -- I think they have some newer form of copy scheme as they rip ok with DVDdecreptor, but never image right to new DVD's

What speed did you burn them at? Also, what is the manufacturer ID? I keep hesitating on purchasing these from Rima.com (I just buy the 100 packs of Riteks, always work 100% for me @ 2x), but I want to find some cheap reliable media.

If it isn't good for video, then it isn't good for data. Bad media is bad media.

The Optodisk Golds have a disc id of 'Optodisk' when I use DVDecrypter. I've been burning them at 2x using the hacked A05 firmware.

The hack makes it possible to burn any 1x DVD-R at 2x (of course if it is crap quality it may not work).

Add me to the list of people who have had problems with this media (Pioneer A05). I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole, even at half this price. For those who have a local PC Club store, they currently have their 50 pack (mixed, sometimes Sony, sometimes others) for $39.99. You can order online, but shipping may apply. I burn these at 2X and haven't had a coaster yet.
