Has anybody else got the Sanyo rebadge with this? I've heard people got the Plextor, but my drive sure looks a helluva lot (meaning: exactly) like the drive here:

I got this link from the RoundSparrow site that talks about the original Iomega to plextor mod. My drive doesn't look like that at all, but like the sanyo drive (different LED pattern and labels)

How is this Sanyo drive different? Any advantage to flashing it with Sanyo's newer firmware?

this is a real simple solution for me. its been more than 14 days now. and i will take this to the store and return it if I do not get the 50 rebate eligibiility. otherwise i will demand the rebate in the store.


staples had to do that on that wireless pcmcia card for me. got that thing for 34 usd shipped.

<rant>Those jerks at OM cancelled my order without ever notifying me. When I called, they claimed that I needed to contact their Card Services division, or some-such, to verify my billing data, which was utter BS, because, when I called, they said that they cancelled my order because they were our of stock and they had no intention of restocking. If they want to annoy, antagonize, and lose customers, there are much cheaper ways of doing it. No wonder they are losing money.</rant>

FYI OM cancels ALL BO items after 7 business days. Get into the habit of ALWAYS calling back the same CSR 10 minutes AFTER CC approved. State NO CANCEL will wait for BO items. It paids to read the fine print.

What really got me steamed was that they could have simply told me that the order was cancelled because they have the 7-day backorder limit policy, but instead, the fed me a line about how I needed to verify my billing information, which caused me to waste several hours on the phone and writing email, with the net result being ... nothing.

Office does have a UPC right on the top of the box. It's pretty fancy and theres printing alongside it telling you to call the National Guard if it is missing.

Hey guys,
I think they are going to cancel all of the back orders on those who have not receive missing items yet. Iomega is really in big trouble with filling retail requests since they had big problems with their zip drives. I know a lot of local OM stores have these items and those who have missing items should email or call them to demand them to pull stocks from local stores. If you don't put pressure on them then nothing will be done. I know this b/c I work for them. I am very frustrated when the corporate office would rather lose a customer then to fill an order quickly. This is why Staples is still a better company. However, Staples underpaid their employees and treat them like sh!t.
So go ahead and call or email them now or you won't get anything. They are false advertising when they are all on back order and still take more orders. They will have to substitute other products if they want to keep us happy. So let's get the war going guys.
