I ordered my drive early AM Sunday morning, called to get the price reduced, and it showed as backordered. I just received the drive today, and they sent me the 8MB model. $46 with tax after rebate, including some free paper clips. Sweet deal!

Don't think so...I tried 2 different brands, one of those being TY's (which burn ok with my old burner)....maybe u got lucky and got a Lite-on rebadge...

mine is on backorder and I ordered at 1am PST on Sun. Called a rep today to adjust price. Should end up costing me about $50 after rebate.

I went to OM B&M and they've been told that they can take orders for the WD 120GB. They had a fax showing what could be substituted. They just don't know when it would be available.

Just today I called in on phone order and I got it. I had the hardrive, and they substituted the 8 meg version, and I got teh cdrs, total was 140.XX, ships in on thursday. I am very pleased at the deal and with officemax, they were really polite about it in the store when they said that they couldn't honor the 30 off coupon, but told me that I should be able to get it on a phone order, and then they gave me the item # for the substitution.

I received my drive today as well - oddly enough, the paperclips I ordered as filler weren't included.

I NEED THOSE PAPERCLIPS - I'LL SUE IF I DON'T GET THEM, GODDAMNIT!

My drive wasn't a "pink slip" upgrade but a Silver-Foil-Marked 120GB JB drive. Hope that doesn't queer the rebate because it's TECHNICALLY not the "standard yet upgraded free" drive.

EDIT: The drive is also marked as being built 3/7/2003 - hopefully it's packing two 60GB platters instead of four 40s.

Just returned a 120GB WD HDD, 2mb model, to the Austin TX Lakeline store. I got an SE model at another store, so I didn't need it. I had opened the box, didn't find a pink slip or anthing to say it was upgraded, so it must be the 2mb model. Didn't open the bag the drive was in, however.

They had one other one in stock. Fishhawk

Question: Anyone know who made the burner hardware? Cendyne doesn't make their own stuff, they just rebadge other's stuff. Last 32x cendyne burner I got happened to be an Aopen. By flashing the firmware to Aopen's latest, it opened up a much wider selection of CDR software I could use.

I was at OM B&M today and they had two different 48X Cendyne's available. They look identical until you turn it over and look at the model #. 4824P is actually a 48X24X48 Benq. I thought the 4816A would be an Asus, but maybe an Aopen as your 32X was? I'm not sure.

I snared the LTR-48125W Cendyne drive, which is the Lite-On I got lucky as this is old stock. Label says manufactured July 2002. That's fine by me. I'd rather have an old Lite-on than any new POS Cendyne is using nowadays. Also, I just got a $10 of $40 Staples coupon on email that OM accepted, so this drive is free after rebates. Nice deal.

Yessss! My hard drive and CD-Rs just arrived at 6pm PST. They shipped me the special edition one with silver size sticker which has 3year warranty too . What can I say, I'm a happy camper
