Went to my local OM B&M. Brought out the SE drive but they didn't know what to do 'cause it still rang up at $179.99. Brought me the last 2mb one from the display case which they were holding for someone else and offered it to me. I asked if I could please have the SE, as the next person would be getting it as a substitution. They agreed, I opened an Omax charge and received $25 off. Also used a snail mail OD $25 off of $75 coupon to make it a really sweet deal.

The Parago WD ON-LINE rebate form has been updated to relect the correct rebate period (4/27-5/3). Furthemore, it now includes the UPC CODES of BOTH THE STANDARD EDITION & SPECIAL EDITION HDD's. Both drives officially qualify! See the OP for more details.

Appears to be dead ON-LINE; however, people at FW are reporting that OMAX is now possibly substituting the SE model for PHONE ORDERS. Try calling up OMAX @ 1-877-OFFICEMAX. You'll need to get your hands on phone coupon code though <cough> FW <cough>.

No luck in my Omax, OOS for the 2mB cache drive. They would not substitute the 8mB "Special Edition" w/c is not eligible for the $80 MIR. No raincheck too. Anyway I got them to order/transfer the 2mB cache from another store. Hopefully I'll get it w/in the sale period. Too bad I'll not be able to use my $30 off $150 coupon they sent to me for now. Good luck to all. :disgust:

The SE *IS* eligible for the $80 MIR! Look at the OP and read the REBATE ISSUE about the ON-LINE REBATE. That rebate offer now lists the SE UPC CODE as REBATE ELIGIBLE!

Furthermore, see the "OMAX Weekly Ad Planner, Page 1" link as PROOF that the SE if an OFFICIAL SUBSTITUTION ITEM. Go back to your OMAX and demand that they sell you the SE at the sale price! Bring printouts of the ON-LINE REBATE FORM TERMS & CONDITIONS as well as the Weekly Ad Planner, PAGE 1.

Scored a SE drive this afternoon - Last drive in the store

They would't take my $30 on-line OfficeMax.com coupon so I had to settle for using a $20 staples coupon I got in an email last week.:frown:

Still $60.06 after rebate & including tax is great.

Hey Nutso,
Could you forward me that Staples coupon email? I could use that when I go into get the pricematch at OM B&M. They probably won't take the $30 off $150 I used when I ordered it online. My email is rossdreher@hotmail.com. Thanks!

$25 off $75 Office Depot coupon at Office Max for this deal?

i swear i read that someone used this coupon (that many of us received via snail mail) at Office Max in-store on this deal...is this true? will they accept a competitors coupon? Since we cant order online anymore to get the $30 off coupon, im wondering if this is an alternative.

thoughts?

To those using the $30 coupon in conjunction with the rebate, are you simply REFERRING to the coupon when buying the HDD, or is there some sort of printout/number that comes with an attempt to buy it online? Hopefully what I'm asking doesn't break the rules, I just want to know if matters are different now that the HDD rebate is no longer online (the link gives a 'this product is currently unavailable' message).

Welllllllll...........I got the 120G and the 48x burner. Unfortunately, I didn't get the SE. Oh well, still a pretty good deal.

Question: Anyone know who made the burner hardware? Cendyne doesn't make their own stuff, they just rebadge other's stuff. Last 32x cendyne burner I got happened to be an Aopen. By flashing the firmware to Aopen's latest, it opened up a much wider selection of CDR software I could use.

I have never used rebatehq before. Could someone tell me what exactly is the difference between just submitting the rebate form, or going through rebatehq? Is the only difference of the two options.. that through rebatehq you can track it? Someone help please. Thanks.

When you submit a rebate on-line via rebatesHQ.com, you populate your name & address info. Thus, you're doing the leg-work for Parago. As a result of that, you're issued a BARCODED REBATE FORM. When you print out the BARCODED rebate form and mail in your rebate, Parago processes that rebate MUCH FASTER because you've taken care of their DATA ENTRY needs. All they have to do is validate that you've met the terms of the rebate (w/ capacity label/upc code, receipt, purchase date, item purchased, etc.)

Rebates mailed in the "regular way" do eventually show up at RebatesHQ.com as well (for tracking purposes); however, that doesn't happen until after your rebate's been processed. Hope this helps.

the burner is made by benq, an offshoot of Acer

All stores are required to match the online coupons.

all store recieved 5 se's and 7 standard drives.

theres store in ks that still have some se's left. you will have to insist that they look for it.

se $179.99-$30 for subbing -$30 for coupon = $119 -$80 rebate = 39.99 SWEET!

Does anyone think its possible to price match the 120 GB drive at Office Max to the 120 GB Western Digital SE drive that Best Buy is selling? The drive at Best Buy is going for $179.99 - 10 IR - 50 MIR. I figured that maybe you could get Best Buy down to about at least $159.00 and then take off the 10 IR and the 50 MIR to make that drive cost about $100 which isn't a bad deal for a 120 GB SE drive. Then again, maybe it won't work cuz the one that office max is selling is not the SE drive and the one that Best Buy is selling, is the SE drive.

I just got off the phone with an OfficeMax CSR and he confirmed that the order I placed online Sunday at 8:54 am will be delivered today. He said they substituted the 8MB drive and that it qualifies for the rebate. Thanx everyone for the great deal. WD 120 GB HD and 50 Fujifilm CD-R's for ~$51.00 shipped.

I picked up the Cendyne 48x CDRW on Sunday and it turned out to be a Benq, burned 3 discs and 2 were coasters, needlessly to say that p.o.s. is going back.
