I have a $50 gift card for Omaha Steaks from my casino.

Went to their website.
Is it me or are their steaks super expensive?
and shipping kills anything i want.

Basically, the $50 gift card is near useless?

After shipping all you can buy is a 4 pack of burgers. I bet your casino got those for free and handed them out like they paid for them.

It reminds of the $100 gift card for wine that comes in an Ipad box. The wine you can buy with that card is restaurant priced so $100 won't buy any wine pack. Have to spend at least $200 to get $50 worth of wine.

Prefer the prime steaks from Costco if I am not buying from a real meat dealer. The few times I tried products from Omaha steaks I was not impressed. I personally would re-gift it to someone else.

Since you have the gift card, keep your eye on the the sales or specials they have. I've purchased from them a few times and there's usually a good deal now and a gain.

Yeah, when we bought our house were were sent some from them as a gift.

Steaks were good, I remember the burger were good and some chicken this was excellent.
Despite my forum name meat by mail freaks me out and I remember the cost being very high and thinking “I can’t afford this right now”

If you can just get a hotdog and burger pack or something for cheap that would be the move. Don't bother with the steaks.

I ended up ordering from them at some point when I got huge discounts and basically paid for their beef what I would pay locally. The quality was mixed because everything was frozen. The steaks I got were better than the "USDA Select" Cuts....but no better than the "USDA Choice" Cuts.... I'm not a meat snob, but when it comes to Choice cuts, that's like the Ribeyes you see with some marbling and still large chunks of fat rather than good distribution.

I agree....sell the card or regift.

This is a good summary. My experience with them was 10 years ago and yeah all the stuff was good or better but the costs and meat being mailed....ugh

Yea, I was kinda being sarcastic, but that's good info there. There's conflicting information, IIRC using celery can also let a company say its "uncured" even tho it works out the same result as straight nitrites.
