This thread has useful/original content in its own right; however, I'd be less than honest if I didn't point out that there's an existing thread containing several hot OMAX deals for this same sales period:

MysticMan1's Western Digital 40GB hard drive & Cendyne or Khypermed 48x CDRW Drive for "9.99" ARs & AC at OfficeMax thread.

That said, on with the post!

This ORIGINAL POST (OP) and POSTS #2 & #3 (below) will be updated throughout the duration this thread's life!

[*]POST #2 contains HOT COMBO DEALS

POST #3 - Rebate Issues:

Issue: I have one or more outstanding rebates from OMAX purchases and thus am reluctant to purchase additional MIR items from OMAX.
Response: Rebates can be a pain in the A$$ at times, no question about it. You have to do your part in filling everything out correctly (as best as possible), submitting the rebates within the timeframe listed on the rebate form, KEEPING COPIES OF EVERYTHING YOU SUBMIT, and at times following up when rebates are overdue (including e-mailing or faxing your SAVED COPIES)! Most rebate forms provide CONTACT INFORMATION to the rebate processor (usually in the form of an 800 #). If you've gone down that that path and still haven't received satisfaction, OMAX has setup a special REBATE HANDLING GROUP accessible via e-mail: omxrebates@officemax.com. Several FW users have PM'd me success stories upon contacting OMAX via that e-mail address. It's your $$$, you may as well try and get it.

Issue: Where's the Roxio UPG-MIR?
Response: Good question. OMAX will hopefully post it by Sunday.
---------------
*UPDATE* It was pointed out by chenhu that this MIR is probably in the product's box. I was able to locate the on-line version of it at Roxio's web-site (and linked it in the OP). Thus you're able to determine whether or not you qualify for the UPG-MIR *before* buying the product.

Issue: Where's the MIRs for the iConcepts Speaker Phones, HT756CL BLACK|WHITE?
Response: The MIR form I linked to is the one OMAX is currently providing. Sakar & iConcepts are the same company, and the Sakar KT1600 series phones are the only listed items which match the COLORS & DOLLAR AMOUNTS of the iConcepts phones. That's why I'm assuming these are the spots OMAX intended for the iConcepts phones. While my guess may be wrong, www.easierrebates.com will probably have the ON-LINE versions of the CORRECT REBATES available under MFR "iConcepts" -or- "Sakar" once the sale starts.
---------------
*UPDATE* At EasierRebates.com, the Sakar KT1600 series phones have the UPC CODES of the iConcepts HT756CL phones in their descriptions! Use the appropriate colored Sakar KT1600 phone(s) for your rebate(s). (Thanks Unbreakable.)

Issue: Where's the Spin-X 50pk CD-R $7 MFR-MIR?
Response: This product was advertised on wrapper page 1 as the 2nd Item # of the Khypermedia 50pk CD-R. While the Khypermedia product has 2 rebates for it (both of which are on-line), it's possible that the Spin-X CD-R substitute will have an additional $7IR associated with it rather than a $7 MFR-MIR. I've simply listed it as a $7 MFR-MIR for the time being as that's how it's advertised. Come Sunday, hopefully the correct answer will be revealed @ OMAX.COM.
---------------
*UPDATE* OMAX has apparently dropped the ball on this one. They never added a MFR-MIR nor did they lower the price by $7. Since OMAX advertised the product on-sale having a $7 rebate, OMAX MUST MAKE GOOD on this. Contact OMAX and demand your $7 back. If you paid by credit card, you can CHARGE THEM BACK the $7 (heck you can probably charge back the FULL AMOUNT using the excuse that you were overcharged for the item and are refusing payment on it). Finally, you can return the item. If OMAX shipped it to you, they'll have to arrange for pickup to retrieve it. (That too will be costly to them).

Issue: The Cendyne MFR-MIR form states "Limit ONE rebate per person, household, family or address." It does not state "Limit ONE rebate per item, per person ..." Will all but one of my Cendyne MIRs be rejected if I purchase multiple Cendyne items?
Response: In the past others have reported having precisely the above occur. Their additional Cendyne purchases were rejected. In the current sales flyer, OMAX has advertised MULTIPLE Cendyne products using the same Cenyne MFR-MIR form. There is no disclaimer in the flyer that only one of these items are rebate eligible. Thus, IMO OMAX is legally liable for these rebates, PERIOD. That said, Parago (the rebate processor) may initially reject one or more of your Cendyne rebates w/ a reason of "Limit 1 per household." A follow-up e-mail to Parago (rebates@parago.com) explaining that you submitted rebates for DIFFERENT Cendyne ITEMS, each advertised in the SAME SALES FLYER, legally obligates that all of the Cendnye Rebate be VALID. More than likely Parago will validate your rebate(s) at that point, but YMMV.

Issue: Submission of multiple Sakar (iConcepts) MFR-MIR's tend to get rejected!
Response: This is in reference to Sakar?.pdf rebate forms and is especially true of Sakar multi-item MFR-MIR forms! These rebates are being handled by Express Group (whom I used to have a pretty high opinion of until I dealt w/ them on Sakar rebate issues). Express Group insists that with Sakar Multi-Item rebate forms, all rebates must be submitted ON ONE FORM IN ONE MAILING. Previously this was impossible as OMAX advertised some of the items at the START OF THE MONTH and other items at the END OF THE MONTH. The rebate form further stated that the submissions were due within 14 days of purchase! Waiting til the end of the month obviously invalidates the rebates of the items purchased at the beginning of the month. Plus, when you buy a rebate eligible item at the start of the month, how are you supposed to know that other items listed on that rebate form will be advertised on-sale later in the month??? At any rate, the only mutli-item rebate form for this sale (Sakar2.pdf) has both items advertised during the same sales period. That said, Express Group left a very bad taste in my mouth, and as such, I feel obligated to warn all of you to be VERY CAREFUL of Sakar MANUFACTURER REBATES!!! Express Group can go <CENSORED> themselves! :| The Sakar OM-MIR's seem to be safe though.
---------------
*UPDATE* The Sakar MFR-MIR's are now being handled by EasierRebates, not Express Group! Hopefully EasierRebates will do a better job of approving the rebates.

I'm pretty sure Khypermedia is BENQ. Cendyne may be a Lite-On, Aopen, or something else (but hopefully NOT a BENQ). The following are all four letter words: BENQ, F*CK, and SH*T, as in: SH*T, I got a F*CKing BENQ!

This has to take a lot of time to do! Thanx for the hard work. Well-laid out and easy to read, which is not easy to do when posting.

On the last OMax deal I got in on I got a 48X Cendyne burner. Turned out to be BenQ. Not a thing wrong with it. I don't mind it at all.

Cendyne 4x Internal DVD+RW Drive, CDICD00225 (Item #20348170) @ $249.99 - $40IR - $30 MFR-MIR - $30 OM-MIR (#34P) = $149.99 AR

That is showing as $269.99 - $40 IR - $30 MFR-MIR - $30 OM-MIR = $169.99 on the description and is not available to buy.

edit. Didn't read 7/20 - 7/26

I got Benq from OD few weeks ago and it does work fine though it is slower in extracting audio than my Liteon but otherwise it seems OK. We'll see how long it will last though.

The DVD will go down another $20 tomorrow, unfortunately it is uncertain if it will be available online. And multiple rebates are truly a lot of hassle, the price might not be worth since the DVD rewriters are going down in prices now.

The reason I don't like BENQ's is that they're very sensitive to media. I had a 48x BENQ (firmware upgradable to 52x) for about 3 days before I got rid of it. It was unable to burn NAME BRAND FUJI MEDIA (rated at 16x) faster than 12x. When I tried burning it at 16x, it produced coasters. My previous CD-RW (at 24x QPS drive) used to burn @ 24x on that same FUJI MEDIA (from the same spindle) flawlessly. With cheap media, the BENQ was horrible too. Even when the burns completed, when trying to read the produced CD's I'd get read errors! Thus more coasters!!! Bottom line? I was able to burn @ 12x on most media; however, I was trying to upgrade from a 24x CD-RW to a 48x CD-RW. My BENQ resulted in a DOWNGRADE to 12x as that's about the fastest it burned at w/ no errors!

FYI: I did upgrade the FIRMWARE of my BENQ drive to the latest "48x" firmware (as well as the "52x" firmware) which was available at that time. Both produced similar miserable results.

I've since installed a Sony 48x re-badged LITE-ON (which I've firmware upgraded to 52x), and it's been working like a champ!

Nothing for me as I'm on a budget with the wife for a while. But I wanted to say what an outstanding post digger. That was a lot of work.

Great post. It looks like so much work I got tired for you. There is a possible pm opportunity for those who got in on the Circuit City Microsoft wireless base station. See thread. This was 79 - 8 IR. Perhaps we can price match the 72 to 79-20 IR? Will be trying that on Monday.

When you say "burned at w/ no errors," are those errors the "Data error - cyclic redundancy check" errors? If so, could I attribute it to my 32x CenDyne and should I switch to my 24x Lite-on.

Can I take the USB2.0 enclosure off the 52x external CD-RW? If so, could I use those adapters to put a 3.5" hard drive in?

Thanks for the deals, I'm looking to get the chairs and the burners.

When I burned at 12x, I was usually OK. When I burned at faster than 12x, even if the burns succeeded, oftentimes subsequent reads of those CDs would indeed result in the "Data error - cyclic redundancy check" error.

As for the USB 2.0 enclosure, many people have reported swappign drives in/out of them. To fit a 3.5" HDD in one, you'll probably need to get 3.5" --> 5.25" drive brackets (so that the 3.5" HDD can be physically mounted into the 5.25" screw holes).
