Aw, give the drivers a try before you knock they guy.
He's just mixes and matches files/components from various driver releases to try and make the best combo, while tweaking registry options etc.

He's done the same with 3dfx, and ATi drivers too. Quite successfully for the most part, I've played around with some of his 3dfx releases and they were pretty good overall.

Personally, I've got everything setup perfectly as I like it, so I've no desire to try his nVidia drivers... but I wouldnt be surprised if they'd be beneficial for some.

other than a couple extra resolutions thrown in it doesn't seem to work. weird things happen in 3d mark and theres massive texture errors in dark age of camelot

While I commend his efforts I think I'll give these drivers a miss. I don't need any help with tweaking nVidia's drivers for my own purposes.

As for image quality, anyone with half a clue can tweak nVidia's driver sets to look good as well.

Please tell me how I can tweak the reference detonators beyond the defaults (besides FSAA) that will give me enhanced image quality.

Ever heard of RivaTuner?

Why should I download somebody's cocktail of drivers when I can tweak nVidia's standard drivers in every way?

Yes, I use RivaTuner, but I do not notice any settings that improve the image quality of the reference detonators.

Hmm, I gave the drivers a shot. I tried them with Quincunx AA in War3 and Neverwinter Nights and the was a huge improvement, especially in Neverwinter. It looks really nice.

Hit the nail right on the head. Anyone with time and some expierence could mix and match and tweak just like he does, but many don't have the time.

And as for his ATi sets, I know for sure I never had the time to mix and match their files, and his have always worked just right.

To each his own.

Well I suppose that depends on whether or not you know what all the settings do. If you don't there are probably settings you are looking at right now that adjust the image quality but you just don't know about them.

Also, what do you think Omega is doing? He's changing the driver settings in exactly the same way and he's certainly not touching the source code to do some magic trickery that no-one else can do.

His drivers might have higher quality defaults but he's only doing it through registry settings and standard nVidia drivers can be configured just the same way.

Personally I dont see any difference other than the miplevel set to -1.5 (major shimmering), w-buffer enabled, multisample masking etc.

Sure thing. Here are my results Omega vs. nVidia

I set the nvidia drivers to the highest quality I know (using nvmax for tweaking)...i don't know how to set it any higher. omega was left at it's own default settings. Both used quincunx. The winner is pretty clear. Both files used identical jpeg compression (level 70 in photoshop 7)

wow, seems that the omega driver jus tshuts down mib mapping, or whatever its called that makes textures look blurred far away

To me, the Omega drivers appear far more crisp!!

I know what these 'drivers' stand for. These are nVidia reference drivers filled with internet parasites that browse the sites secretly for that genius guy and he gets additional $.

dude shut up. omega has been tweaking radeon drivers for ages and i totally trust every set he has put out. if i had an nvidia video card id get his drivers first thing. if you don't know what you're talking about then don't bother wasting everybody's time by making them read your swill.

hehe, i never thought i'd ever hear anyone complain about textures being too crisp In my testing with Q3 (and my own demo), i scored almost 10 fps higher with the Omega's, which is very strange. Either way, they shore do look better than the latest from Nvidia. I'll be keeping these...
