Thanks neowin.net

Yep, it's true, at last, the first release (non beta) of the Nvidia Omega drivers is out. It took a while to completely make the drivers work like I wanted them to work, but is done, and you won't belive the kind of quality they will provide. I managed to fix the D3D problem, so now D3D textures will look as good as the OpenGL ones in the second beta drivers and D3D applications will not take a serious HIT in performance like in the first beta drivers.

Note: This is NOT a Nvidia Driver. These are slower than the Nvidia Reference Driver, because they where made with QUALITY in mind, not speed. The speed hit will not be too high, from 1 to 8 FPS slower at most, but it could be higher in cards with 32MB of RAM or less, haven't tested but it should since the quality settings take a hit in FILL RATE, that's why it needs 64MB or more.

get them here

If you try them out, let us know how good they really are.

So this guy thinks he writes drivers better than nVidia driver team? Muahahahhahahahaaa...

I know what these 'drivers' stand for. These are nVidia reference drivers filled with internet parasites that browse the sites secretly for that genius guy and he gets additional $.

Booster: You obviously haven't heard of omega, he has been around since the 3dfx days, probably before. He actually makes ATi drivers as well (..with a guy called cyborg he has recently teamed up with).

So before you diss him, go do a search in other forums, namely rage3d and driverheaven.net and you'll see he is quite respected, and theres reason why.

I agree it's the first, and I hope, the last time I heard of that Omega guy. But he can't write drivers alone, can he? I think there's a dirty little secret in all this business. It's just my opinion, of course. When I saw the word 'Mozilla' at the bottom of the page, it alarmed me. Mozilla contains parasites, and it's likely that the 'drivers' of this guy too. What other reason can he seek creating customized drivers than doing smth tricky? The amount of effort put into it can't be justified just as a hobby.

Let me shine a little light on your ignorance my friend:

Omega has been "reconfiguring" driver sets since the 3dfx days. He doesn't write his own, he combines the best of different sets and tweaks registry setting for best setting for games, not benchmarks.

His ATi driver sets have been a GODSEND, and have made a lot of people's lives a lot easier when it comes to drivers for video cards, especially people with ATI cards when they didn't have their sh!t straight.

Please research before you spew you ignorance all over the forums.

Thanks.

Heck, I believe so. Sorry, I didn't want to 'crap' in your thread, it just turned out somehow. I apologize.

But anyway, I wouldn't install these drivers even if they pay me a million dollars. What's the use of having two chicks at the same time if your puter will become unstable, crash and hang b/c of some modified drivers?

That's just the point, they are VERY stable & look better than the originals.

You wouldn't? I would install them on my ATI systems for a cool million. Hell, I'd even use beta firmware for IBM 45GB 75GXP's written by imtim83 for that much...

I tried them, and I could see the difference in Q3, but I didnt like what I saw, it was brighter and sharper, but it looked too sharp, harsh actually, and in q3, espescially on map17 the moire effect was over the top, moving around in the air and looking at the ground showed what looked like a fluctuating spiderweb pattern.

using whql 29.80's now

Yeah, but then all of your systems would be constantly posting in GH asking silly "what if" questions based solely on rumors.

I am not. I am just obsessed with learning as much about computers as possible everyday. Is that such a bad thing?

checking them out now... will probably be faster than the drivers i have hacked together from a couple different detonator sets. don't have a benchmark program because quake doesn't work for some reason.
