I hear your frustration, and again, I'm not saying I endorse the outcome here, but neither you nor I was on the jury. They were read specific jury instructions on the legal definitions of "recklessness" and "under the influence of drugs or alcohol" that they applied to the facts here. Keep in mind, as well, that the prosecution bears the burden of proving these things beyond a reasonable doubt (that is, that there is no reasonable explanation other than her guilt of recklessness and/or being under the influence).
My gut feeling, based solely on reading these skeletal stories, is that she was guilty of the greater offense, but again, I wasn't on the jury.
