OMFG this is awesome! Calling all .NET programmers!!!

Microsoft is sponsoring a game called Terrarium. here You basically program in .net, around their terrarium guidelines, a herbivore/carnivore/plant thingmabob and it competes against other people's ones across the net in a peer to peer framework. The winners get xboxs, but who really cares about that. You create and program AI (i guess, still reading) so that your beast(s) can rise above the rest. There is a bunch of stats and various other stuff. I haven't downloaded it yet but would guess that even a low-end programmer could jump into this - of course they wouldn't win but so what.

You can play within set peer groups. We could have an AT group, for instance, but I doubt there are enough of us here who would play that it would be worth it having a king of the hill of AT programmers, but it would be wicked for bragging rights

Awesome isn't it? I haven't had much time to work on it, but hopefully I will over the next few weeks. I'd like to at least get a population of 200 (not necessarily for the xbox, but just to get there). The code examples look fairly lucid as well.

This sounds dead cool and I'd love to participate in an AT team.

But I have very limited exposure to AI or any heavy Computer-Science resembling stuff.

And oh, btw, most of the programmers and soon-to-be programmers at AT don't seem to like .NET. Ask Elledan and others.

Well I don't think you can play as a team - just within set groups. Most of the people on AT are MS-hating Linux loving penguin screwers!

I was going to try to get a free copy of VS.net and XP Pro from the San Jose launch on Monday the 25th, but went online as soon as I got home to register for the launch party, and of course it was full already. DAMN!!!
