I doubt you are the only one in that respect. If gas prices REALLY were a problem, it would be socially acceptable for people in business suits to ride to work on a Harley or Vespa or whatever. (not trying to compare the two..hehe..) Yet most of us have no option other than to sit and watch our wallets disappear when we go to the local gas station to fill the only car we can afford to drive...the only one we have already paid for. :-/

I do, I can ride a bike to work...which I have been doing for over two years now. I haven't filled up my car in over a week. Probably won't fill it again until next week. It sucks that people are feeling the pinch but really, this is nothing new. We all new this was coming and it's only going to get worse.

A quick map on gas buddy shows mostly > $3.30/gal. $5/gal? Probably only in Mariposa (or other outskirt towns neighbouring Yosemite).

Yeah? We've been paying over $4/gal for gas for over two years now up here in Canadia. Back when the CDN dollar was lower it was worse though, at .85CDN:1USD it was like 4.87/gal, now with our dollar being stronger though it's only like 3.81USD per gal

Still crap compared to back around '99-'00, when it was under $1USD a gal, those were much better days.

i think $5/gal is setting your sights too low, with oil at/over $100/barrel now, wait until summer, gas this summer should go way above $5/gal

No work, just college.
30 min by bike
30 min combination of bus + walk
30 min combination of 2 buses (transfer)

haven't tried walking all the way.
