Just pour some cleaning liquid like Purex or something in the liquid soap thing in your washer if you have one, if not just pour some on the clothes, and wash. If you don't care to separate clothes (I don't do this) just wash in cold water. Can't go wrong with cold water.

in all seriousness, i still glance up @ the "instructions" my ex-wife posted near the washer from time to time.

pretty darn sure that's the only thing she left behind.

You forgot laundry detergent, maybe forgot to turn the machine on, and to top it off you probably used bleach based on the white stripes.
Fail on all accounts.

When drying also put in lint sheets next time, that is probably why there are fluffy things.

Haha I'm new to doing laundry myself and did a few screw ups like that too.

Screw up #1: Washing cheap walmart face clothes for the first time, unattended.
Result: so much lint, the main sewer backed up.

Screw up #2: Washing cheap walmart towels of two different colors at same time
result: TONS of fuss from oposite color on both types.

So far I did not make anything turn a different color permanently, or shrink like crazy, thankfully. I use the tide liquid "cold water" and only wash with cold water then throw in dryer for the automatic cycle.

Dude, sweaters are best off hanging. From the white detergent streaks, sounds like you used too much. Give your mother back her sweater; she might be able to save it, and ask how to do it for next time. They'll probably be pretty happy if you can end up taking care of your own laundry in the future, the fact you tried might bail you out from ruining her sweater.

So what happened OP? Did you get grounded?

If you're really not 12, then you can just tell your mom exactly what happened and offer to buy her a new sweater. She'll probably think her little baby is so cute and forgive you.

Exactly, but he's too young to follow the instructions:

KT

Fuck...where were those tags when I first took on the laundry chores in our household?

I am not too young to follow instructions. I AM NOT 12 as indicated.
I've just never had to do laundry. I have never seen my parents seperate cloths or put in special liquid etc.. 'and everything always came out fine.

Is this a Dryer problem or the Washing problem.

It's neither. It's a user error.

If you never saw your parents separate clothes...you were just a typical spoiled little kid whose sole knowledge of laundry was that you put dirty clothes into a pile or hamper and they magicly reappeared, clean and folded.

I've done laundry for decades. Clothes need to be sorted by:

Color: dark colors in one load, light colors in another load.

Water temperature: some clothes have to be washed in cold water, while most colors can be washed in warm.

Whites: While MOST white clothes should be bleached to get them really white, some cannot be washed with chlorine bleach. (It rots nylon and turns some fabrics yellow.)

Cycle: Most clothes can be washed on "regular," but some clothes need to be washed on "Gentle" or "Delicate."

I AM the laundry bitch in this household...and I do a GOOD job.

White streaks makes me think bleach was used.

It might have been powdered detergent, but he didn't dissolve it in water first. That can especially be a problem if the machine was overloaded.

Wow...best thread in a while. OP are you sure the fuzzy stuff isn't the cloth coming apart on what you washed?
