omg I scanned my computer for viruses and got rid of the pe parite_a and hapater (or whatever) worm viruses using TrendMicro's housecall internet virus scanner, and then I reboot, and I get the blue screen while the Windows 2000 splash screen is on....... the blue screen that says "run chkdsk /f and look for any corruptions" etc........... and at the top it says "inaccessible_boot_sector error".

and so since my computer has both WinXP and Win2k on it I get on winXP and I go to windows explorer and look at my hd with Win2k in it..... DOESN'T WORK! it asks me if I want to format the drive because it's not formatted. OMG what did I do wrong? I only scanned for viruses and got rid of them and that's all I did!!!!!! did the stress of the virus scanning destroy my hard drivE?!? omg my whole mp3 library and music video and Family Guy episodes and my digital artworks are all in here....... I can't risk losing them. holy crap.... what should I?? how do I fix this? is my HD completely dead? c is there anyway to reverse the virus scan to its original state? howbout I restore the registry for Win2k?

thanks a lot any help would be appreciated.

Try restoring the files with the viruses - I know it sounds stupid - they should be in Trend's quarantine... then save all those things elsewhere, and re-run the av-scan and if the situation repeats, feel free to format the drive. This is the only thing I can think of.

No, wait, try booting it with a boot disk, or cd...

Good Luck...

So does it boot now thta you ran cmd? I don't know what cmd is supposed to do. If the boot sector is fvcked you can try booting into dos and running fdisk /mbr. I've had problems where this has saved my butt when a boot sector is corrupted. However this is your last resort! Other times I've tried using this and it's wiped out the partition table on the drive completely! So if you can backup what's there before trying it.

cmd is the Windows XP commandline interface.

The virus damaged your registry all you can do is attempt to save your files and reload everything.

Also try backing up all your files and attempt system restore.
