Do I just call a local courthouse and ask for someone to be my rep. for a speeding citation? Will they be able to give me a fee over the phone?

Sorry, I'm completely new to this.

Now that you've received some help.. let's flame on!

WTF were you thinking? You're pretty damn ballsy to pass a cop, when the cop is already going over the speed limit.

you can prevent the ticket to show up in your records..all you need is to go to court...do your business and attend driving school.

BUY A GOOD RADAR DETECTOR OR A CAR CAPIABLE OF OUT RUNNING THE PO-PO

I can't say this enough. Best way to fight a ticket is to fight it BEFORE pulling off to the side of the road.

In my understanding is that the emergency vechiles such as police cruisers and etc have legal rights of attending speed of ten over the limit only without sirens.

11-12 isn't too much off that limit the police were going at. You broke the law, suck it up and pay the fine. Go 55 the next time.

cops think they can do whatever they want. I've had cops HIT ME while RUNNING SOP SIGNS w/o lights and sirens, injuring me on my bicycle, completle hit and run and had not as much as an apology

You do realize what percentage of people who actually drive at the speed limit in MA? Strictly for grandmas and gramdpas.

While I am not supporting the cops, but the cops had a legal right to be traveling at approximately 65 MPH in 55 without any reason. As stated in my DMV Manual : Oregon State issued 1999-2000

But he was speeding and he deserved that ticket. And I'm sorry to hear that he ran the stop sign and got into ya. How did that event proceed afterwards?

I pass cops all the time - especially when they're going 5 MPH under the speed limit (and everybody else is too chickenshiat to pass them). As long as you're not going over the limit when you pass them, there's nothing they can legally do about it.

Know your route. If there's a speed trap (I drive through 6 of them every day, Maryland is kind enough to actually MARK them) hit the speed limit. If there's a blind corner with a easyish place to park, hit the speed limit. If there's construction ahead, hit the decreased speed limit at the FIRST sign indicating it. On rural roads, if there's an entrance with turn lanes, hit the speed limit (cops love to sit in those turn lanes and just wait). If you see a cop ahead, hit the speed limit and STAY THE HELL BEHIND HIM. If there's a cop coming the other direction, chances are you're okay at +10, but if there's more than 3 lanes and you're any faster, he WILL turn around and bite your ass. If you look in your rear view and see a cop, DEFINITELY stay on the speed limit. Cops in a parking lot? Brake NOW. They've got a radar gun and are calling you out to their brotha down the road. ALWAYS assume they're out to get YOU. Drive like you're fvcking paranoid. Learn where you can floor it, where you can pass trucks, and where you have to drive like a good Christian.

Just make sure you leave AMPLE space between you and them when you merge back right, or they might hit you with reckless driving for cutting them off.

I've been driving on this highway (route3) forever and the majority of the drivers go at least 70mph on all 3 lanes. So I didn't even consider him pulling me over. The police office was going at least 66-67 and pulled me over so he was also technically over the speed limit. The only reason IMO, he pulled me over was that it was an easy citation for him because people drive 80mph+ on the fast lane...

My question is, what are my chances of reducing the citation fee?

Note: This is my first speeding ticket ever and I got my license in 2000 in Massachusetts.

Call Ted Kennedy and weasel your way out of it.

Oh.......bring a fifth of vodka.

This is the best post I've read yet in a speeding ticket thread. People who get pulled over and then want to know how to avoid the ticket make me laugh... this post here is very good advice to AVOID getting pulled over in the first place.
