My vote for best of 2002 goes to Brotherhood Of The Wolf. For now. Then again, since it was released in France last year does it make it a 2001 movie? Then again it didn't apply to Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Oh great, now I'm confusing myself, beer has that effect on me.

Decapitation, broken down, means removal of head from body. I think you're looking for "amputated" as a decent word here.

"amputated" is not even the correct word, as amputation is a surgical act. How about just saying his lower body was blown away.

There ya go.

to those who saw it:

what do you think of the decision not to show the soldier's body being dragged through the streets of Mogadishu? even though it would have been very hard to watch, i think it is too important a scene to completely ignore.

edit for: rangers lead the way!

To add to the realism of the movie, I suggest that you go with a good friend. Now, imagine for a second that your good friend next to you is out in the open, being shot at with an RPG and losing his/her legs in the heat of combat. Now think that it is "tiiiiight". Repeat.

Should be included. There's a reason it's R. The friggin idiots probably cut it for patriotic reasons or some crap. Hell, in the book, it shows a Crew Chief getting drug. It would be pretty moving, too bad

"dismemberment" is cutting, tearing or pulling off of the limbs. Typically referring to a human act.

heh, I am an amatuer historian, and after seeing tons of photos and films of war and it's aftermath, this probably won't phase me at all.. It's good that people get a more realistic gut check on war fighting....it's not something to enter into lightly...

The soldier getting drug through the street didn't actually happen until after all the fighting had ended. The movie wanted to concentrate more on the battle and what was going on there.

Went and saw it tonight with some friends...it's a VERY graphic movie, but is also very well done. I liked it a lot, it actually reminded me of playing Ghost Recon

just saw it, just kept thinking how sad it was. apparently humvees weren't built for urban warfare. sure on normal clear battlefields your gunner isn't all that exposed.. but in a street lined with buildings? good god ..suicide.

I was kinda wondering about this movie because the guy who made it made Pearl Harbor too, and that movie blew:disgust: I guess I dont have to worry.

It's BLOODY good. I mean it literally.

It's too graphical for almost 1 hour 40 min.

It bothered my that the HumV didn't have a metal plated armor that surrounded the gunner. I think the UN HumV's had better armor, but it was foolish not to surround the gunner with metal plating on the sides, back, and head.

I just saw the movie, and I thought it was awesome. Considering that I am already in the military, what it did is PISS ME OFF. Even a 50-1 ratio doesn't equal in terms of relative worth. I just hope we wreak additional vengeance upon them in the near future.

What it also did is strengthen my resolve to become involved with special operations as soon as I leave training.

It made me want to join up but I already have a brother in the army. I hope he gets to go to butcher a few of those twisted somalians or muslims.

The Hummer is not intended to be an armored vehicle in an urban environment. Did you catch the comment the general made at the beginning about being denied access to armor by Washington? He KNEW there were problems with relying on barely armored vehicles for such a place but could do nothing to fix that because Clinton and friends didn't want to "escalate" our involvement. Those 19 bodies rest on that bastard's shoulders.

It never explained why they were pissed off exactly or hated us that much. I have a few guesses but some context would have been nice. Maybe even a point to the movie??? Seems like it was one big battle and thats all. Wish it would tell us something more than that.
