I used to have this problem with some FPS games. I found that taking a little break and looking at some distant object every so often helped incredibly. Also, if you can move your seating position back away from your computer, you give your brain more of a frame of reference to tell it you're really not moving.

I rarely get sick from FPS games now, since I started playing more of them.

wow. all these years with my big NEC monitor set at 60 refresh rate, and just a couple days ago i changed it to 75 because sisoft sandra told me to do so. everything seems quicker, is this possible? i had to stretch the screen a bit after but now its perfect and i'm never going back.

anyhoo mostly now i play bf1942 (only game i have installed right now, fresh xp sp2 ahhh)
i can play for an hour or 2 and i feel great. my brother used to get sick playing sometimes though. i can't watch people play mainly because i always want to wrench the controls away from them. ie. my bro flying around in bf1942 saying "this is awesome". just flying and flying for hours. not looking for anyone to attack, just joyriding.

the best thing is how some people actually MOVE (physically, in real life) when playing 3D games. its almost as if turning your head or body would help your character move better in the game. now thats some funny a$$ stuff.

My kid sister used to 'jump' when we told her to jump when playing Super Mario Brothers on the NES

Ya it's either motion sickness, eye strain in a dark room, or low refresh rate.

Actually my brother could never play Quake, or other fast paced FPS's, however he loved Descent, and he's a big Flight Sim fan(something I always tease him for ).

After increasing the HZ to 70.... I am still getting sick. I may just need to buy a good LCD at some point.

AvP with Aliens did that to me too. Descent was awful too.

SICKENING!

Guys, I am sure there is a setting in the cfg file somewhere to turn off the swaying of the character. Doom 3 has one, I just set it to not do it and no more sickness.

Which is wierd since I never had this problem with doom's, quakes, tribes and the like, only the new versions with the swaying walk of the characters.

I don't think it would make a difference. Take a break for the amount of time you play. And don't play for four hours straight lol.

Sadly, no it won't. I get motion sickness on most fps, and the only thing that stops it is Dramamine.

If it really is Motion Sickness then try Ginger pills, they're cheap avi. w/out a prescription and are pretty much guarteed to cure motion sickness, don't ask me why, but I always take them before I get on boats (after I had a a bad exp....) and haven't gotten motion sickness since.
