According to some reading the scorpion species that causes the highest number of allergic reactions lives from Maryland to Flordia. Chances are, that species was in your house.

I guess living in Panama for many years, and living with scorpions, makes me think you're an idiot. Chances are, you will not see another one. If you do, grab a bucket and some paper and put the little dude outside.

While a lizard would work in summer, it is a bit cold this time of year for a lizard to be very active. No activity = no hunting.

A more practical solution and one that is probably easily implemented is to use chemical warfare. Scorpions are known to be repelled by musk, passionflower, camphor, and neroli essences. These organic compounds are common ingredients in many colognes and perfumes so you might have some in the house that you could use to keep the scorpions away even in the dark. In the case of neroli essence it seems that its scorpion-repelling capability was one reason it was added to perfumes in the first place as it doesn't smell all that pleasant. I don't know if it is more effective to wear the cologne/perfume to bed or just sprinkle some on the bed clothes.

Yes its for real. Set of balls? Ok i'll be sure to one day encounter a deadly animal and try to fight it because i'm a man

I mean no prob, i would squish the scorpion if i see it out in the open, but if i'm just lying there sleeping, can't do anything about it.

So what? Ive been bit twice, once camping in FL, the other at a surf camp in Costa Rica. Its not like a cobra....

you are the master of twisting your story to not make it obvious you are lying.....NOT!

hey godfather, shill out and stop making these stupid threads dude. Just ahng out here and have fun, get attention in a positive way. Not by making a thread one week bragging about your new computer you just build and then the next week making a thread whining about how you do not have enough money for a new computer and want to buy one on credit...or by making a post about girls and their hariy arms and starting out by saying you would dump a girl over it, and then saying that its fine with you

seriosuly m8, this is not the way to post and build a reputation about yourself. chill man...

Really? I always thought that if you get bit by it, you gonna die if they dont get you to a hospital. Or maybe its a different type of scorpion. Oh well.

One day i might get stinged by another one.

This one was smaller, but there must be a mother and a father. Its the middle of the winter, whats going on???

It came inside to get warm, duh.

Uh Georgia has scorpions. You just saw one.

Upstate NY,doesn't but, there are Rattlesnakes at Saratoga lake, and other places
in Upper NY State.

In the United States, scorpions are most common in southern Arizona and in a swath extending through central Texas and central Oklahoma. The common striped scorpion Centruroides vittatus reaches from northwest Mexico to southern Colorado, Kansas, southern Missouri and Mississippi. Species of the genus Vaejovis are found from Florida north to Maryland, the Carolinas, and Tennessee and as far west as Oregon and California. Paruroctonus boreus is found through the Northwest US and into Canada. Scorpions can be found in 31 different states in the US, including Hawai'i (Isometrus maculatus, introduced).

I didnt even get sick, in fl, i took a benadryl and in costa i drank a few beers. The locals i was staying with said the bigger ones were not as dangerous. The one in FL was very small, the one in costa was freaking huge, not saying i wasnt scared at the time, but after learning about them, they arent as bad as poinsonous snakes (unless you are algergic).

Scorpions are NOT harmless. They hurt a lot, and one sting with their tail means it's over for you. Their claws also carry venom in large quantities, and they like to puncture your skin.

As for shoes, pick your shoes up and shake them out before you put them on. Make sure there's nothing inside. Be extra careful, scorpions have been known to leap out and sting their victims in the face and eyeballs if their shoe-home is disturbed!

Since it was a baby scorpion, there is probably a Scorpion Queen somewhere nearby. They are usually living in the attic somewhere with Scorpion Nobles. Survival rates for Scorpion Queen Infestation are 17%. Get out of the house! Your chance of living increases to 34% if you leave ASAP! That's double! RUN!
