Scorpions are NOT harmless. They hurt a lot, and one sting with their tail means it's over for you. Their claws also carry venom in large quantities, and they like to puncture your skin.

As for shoes, pick your shoes up and shake them out before you put them on. Make sure there's nothing inside. Be extra careful, scorpions have been known to leap out and sting their victims in the face and eyeballs if their shoe-home is disturbed!

Since it was a baby scorpion, there is probably a Scorpion Queen somewhere nearby. They are usually living in the attic somewhere with Scorpion Nobles. Survival rates for Scorpion Queen Infestation are 17%. Get out of the house! Your chance of living increases to 34% if you leave ASAP! That's double! RUN!

Who said they were harmless.

The Godfather, I strongly recommend the following book:

The Worst-Case Scenario Survival Handbook

From the review:

Be very, very afraid. When you step through your door for an innocent excursion, grave danger awaits. You might be mugged; tied up; attacked by scorpions, piranhas, or tarantulas; trapped in a falling plane or elevator, a runaway train, a car on a cliff, a sandstorm, a riptide, or a riot.

This is a must have, even if you aren't traveling!

No scorpions here, but we have rattlesnakes out the ass.
None on my side of the mountain though, you have to go over top to the other side.
They like the east side of hills, I live on the west side.

5 minutes ago my dad calls me downstairs urgently. I run down to the kitchen, and there i see a SCORPION! My dad killed it, but we are all shocked. Scorpions shouldn't live in our area. I love in northern Georgia, wtf is going on?

One day i might get stinged by another one.

This one was smaller, but there must be a mother and a father. Its the middle of the winter, whats going on???

Are you 10 years old?

I think he said he just turned 16 in another thread.

Look at the bright side:

If scorpions don't live in your area, it's obviously a radioactive mutant scorpion. So therefore, if it stings you, you will get SCORPO-POWERS!!!!!

Dude there are small species of Scorpions that live in the south, always have been. You most likely killed an adult that was looking for somewhere warm to ride out a cold day.

In rural GA, AL, and the rest of the deep south you can find them if you look under enough rocks.

Nothing new about this.

"There are about 90 species of scorpions found in the United States, and of these 90, only one species has a powerful enough venom to be considered a danger to humans. The venom causes severely painful symptoms to appear, but is rarely fatal. This species has been found mainly in Arizona, but there are also small pockets of the species that have been found in Southeast California and Utah."

i would say youre safe
