OMG my boss just told me the best plan for getting rid of solicitors EVER

OK some background information:

I do work a desk job in IT Support when I'm on my breaks. Well, today was my first day since early January, before school got back in session. Anyway, my boss (IT Director) is always getting stupid solicitors calling him and stupid salesmen that come to the office wanting the IT Director's busines card. Well after dealing with this for years, he decided to put an end to it: He created a fake IT Director.

Tom Man. Tom Man has his own voicemail box who the receptionist transfers all the soliciation calls to. In the event that my boss gets a solicitor, he graceiously transfers him to the true IT Director, Tom. he also went to Office Depot and had fake business cards made out for Tom so when solicitors harass the receptionist for the IT Director's card, she has plenty on hand

Tom is a very popular guy. He got 18 voice mails today.

The funniest thing is, is that persistant salespeople have even said that they just got off the phone with him and need to get reconnected.

I once worked for a "gentleman" who had a 28 node phone system installed in his office.

For the two of us.

When the inevitable dunning calls came, they were transfered to Accounts Payable, a Ms Helen Waite, at extention 410.

We called it Call Park. The extention would hold the call for 15 minutes and dump it.

Many would call back, ask to speek again to Helen, saying they had been cut off...

Boss fully beleved that they should go to Hell, and wait........
