What kind of wimpy car do you have that you can't lose some fool in a van???

You never been a chase have you, this is not a race its a chase that involves traffic lights and other cars. Bieng in the situation you were in you risked every other driver and pedastrian on the road. If you did not hit them then he would of. A van might not have 200 HP but at the same time I don't think you need close to 1/3 of that on the streets. You should have not panaked called the police and report the license plate, then I would in your situation pull up on his side open my window and kindly shoot him with CS military tear gas or any gas for that matter. But do it while on a traffic light so he won't be blinded and hit other cars. I have shot a guy who followed me while he was on the red light. The moron started yelling and because of the cars honking behind him decided to hit the gas and ran into the car in front of him. I just slowly drove off.

Man, I can't believe how common that selling speakers out of the van thing is...it happens everywhere it seems. I hear about it every once and a while, and it's always the same story.... except for the crazy car chase scenario.

Infidelity, What you say makes a lot of sense about being in the situation and all, but then you lose some credibility saying that he should not have panicked, called the police and just gotten the license number of the van. OF COURSE HE'S GONNA BE PANICKED! If you were in the same position, you probably would be too.

a group of us were being chased by these "dudes" from another high school one night. so we took them into a real confusing housing plan. after we stopped and exchanged words, they left, only to come back around the block! "uhh, how do we get out of here?" now that was some funny sh*t.

<< stark, if some guy started going hostile towards you wen u standing in front of him, would you say "no" while still in front of his face? o heeck no. plus i didn't think he was that psychotic to follow me even after he knew i was bullshitting him. >>

The one and only time I talked to a van-speaker scam artist was down in Costa Mesa by Tower Records.

All you had to say was "sorry, I only have $20, no thanks" and he probably would have left you alone. Even if he was hostile, he wouldn't have done anything in public. Instead, you let him think he was supposed to follow you, and of course he's going to try to chase you. If you'd have called 911 the chp could have been sent to stop him from harassing anyone else in the future.

I said this in the reply and a similar situation really did happen to me when I got into an argument with some guy over a parking spot. He followed me and pulled up to my side on a red light. He started yelling curses and telling me to pull over so I gently opened my window and kindly shot him with CS military tear gas. The moron started screaming due to the pain I assume and because of the cars honking behind him decided to hit the gas and ran into the car in front of him. I just slowly drove off. Now would I have done the same in this situation, probably. I would panic if I'm alone but bieng in my car and all that steel to back me up I ain't of afraid of nothing

Sounds like the speakers were probably stolen. I was in a car with a friend of mine and this guy was trying to sell a car stereo for dirt cheap, pretty sure that was stolen.

<< So I just got out of work and stopped on the way at the bank to withdraw some money. As I walked by the parking lot to my car, some guy in a van was like, hey you wanna buy some home theatre speakers? At first I said no but figured, what the heck. I'll see whats up and if it's a good deal, i'll sell it on ebay for a profit.

So I went up to him and asked what are the specs on the speakers? He showed me some papers and pointed out that they were $1400 in stores and he'll sell a pair to me for $150. Now I'm not some stupid nut. I know it's too good to be true. I don't need any speakers but then again if there is some slight chance that these can be good, I'll buy it and sell on ebay like I said. So he opened it up and demoed it for me. I didn't even ask him to. It sounded good but then again I don't know much about speakers, ohms, amps, etc. So I told him to let me call my friend and ask. So I called my friend up on my cell to ask if the specs were good. My friend said it sounds good but he gotta listen to know for sure if it's good.

By then I was like screw this. I don't wanna risk it getting some cheapo speakers that I can't even get even for on ebay. So I got off the phone and was like I dunno man. Then he started getting hostile. He was like "so what? you made me open up the box, waste my time and you gonna let me hang like that? now you said you were gonna call you friend and then you were gonna buy it. are you going to stick to your words???"

I was like wtf??? I never agreed to sh!t. But seeing how hostile he got, I didn't want to piss him off more. So I said "hey my friend wants to listen to it. i'll go pick him up now and we'll come back. if it's good, he'll buy it too."

And he was like "no. i can't stay here long. i came here to get money from a guy who also bought a pair. if you want to do this, i'll follow you to your friends house?" Of course by now I know this fool is crazy and it's illegal as hell.

Of course I was still bullsh!tting him. I figured I'll lose him or after awhile he would get tired and stop following me. So I took off and he followed me for a couple blocks. We approached a freeway and at first I stayed on the rightmost lane but not on the one that's entering the freeway. He was right behind me. When the light turned green I faked I was going straight and swerve onto the freeway. He followed me!!! We approach the light entrance to the freeway and he was still right behind me. The light turned green and I put the pedal to the metal. That fool just straight tailed me disregarding the car to the left of me. There was some traffic so I couldn't go as fast as I wanted to. He caught up right besides me and I was like oh sh!t, he gonna pull a gun and shoot me on the side.

Instead he honked and yelled out the window. I faked I was on my cell phone hoping he would get the fuggin message. But nope. When the next exit came up, I swerve off and he was still on my tail. We hit a red light and I got in the left turn lane and he was on the right turn lane. He got out of his car and started banging on my window saying "why you an asshole????" I tried to ignore him and he got in his car. I thought that was it! So the light turned green and I made a left turn but that fool disregarded the fact he was in a right turn lane and made a left turn pushing the car behind me out of the way. He followed me for another couple of minutes before we hit traffic and I squeezed into other lanes and made a quick left turn. I noticed he was going to do a U-turn to roll back and find me but I made several turns in the residential to lose sight.

I'm still shooken up as hell. People are crazy as fug these days!!!

morale of the story? don't even bother talking to those people selling stuff on the street! yeah I know it's dumb that I did but sometimes a hot deal isn't worth it!

Yeah, woah is right.

Some advice they gave my older sister when she was going to school in the ghetto was if she was ever being followed, to break as many traffic rules as safely as possible. That way, you'd get the attention of the police, and when they pull you over, you can explain what happened.

She just happened to be at a club one night and attracted the attention of a guy that followed her and her friends. They ran red lights and sped (not at the same time), and eventually got pulled over. The guy drove off, and the cop let them off (of course, a carload of freaked out looking college girls should be proof enough something was wrong)

yeah he was selling some acoustic images speakers but he sold the last set to some white guy who had the biggest smile on his face saying "wow i got such a good deal!" he tried to sell me some brand called Denmark. although I dont know much about speakers, i still know my brands and i've never heard of Denmark nor have my friend whose very knowleadgeable in that area.

i was gonna stop by my work place again and wait inside til he goes away but was afraid he might do something to my car.

and some of you seem to think it's that easy to outrun another car. i have no doubt in smoking him if the road was wide open. i know he can't speed up and brake fast due to the speakers in the back of his van as well as the van being pretty old. but the problem was it happened during rush hour when people are getting off of work.

and don't worry guys. i tried my best to outrun him safely. i didn't put anyone in danger but he did!

btw, i don't drive a rice car. it's a stock '93 accord. nothing is fixed up and i intend to keep it that way

LOL. Thanks for the laugh Hoeboy. Good thing you're OK (unless he's lurking in a sleeping bag outside your window :Q).

I was approached by two guys in a minivan a couple weeks ago who were selling speakers. I forget what their excuse was, but good thing they didn't get hostile when I said no. I had the same thoughts as you about selling them cheap (Hot Deals-mentality syndrome) but it had to be a scam.

Hey good thing you're OK...I got accosted by the white-van speaker-sellers a month ago here in FL. I simply said NO THANKS and walked on by...probably stolen or cheap-as-hell goods.
