Got mine two years ago, getting them removed in a month. First week or two are a pain, my diet consisted of, well, Jello and soup. And it is not that bad when they tighten them either, people telling you so are talkin sh!t. When they get tightened they will hurt a bit, but never as much as when you first got them.

i had my braces for 5 years lol

but then again, every time i was supposed to take them off, i would totally ****** up like a month before.

the last one was a forehead-to-my-mouth collision at full speed during a football game we had during lunch (no equipment of course)

my mouth was pretty bloody, the other guy had teeth marks on his forehead (thru my skin) and the orthodontist just shook his head when i came in for the supposed last appointment with broken brackets and unalligned teeth

Hmm...that sucks.

I was supposed to get braces, but chipped my teeth in 4th grade and had to get crowns. Break your teeth FTW! They can just mold new teeth over the real ones and make them straight that way!

Just when you get used to them and the pain goes away, you pay your friendly orthodontist another visit and the pain begins again. Repeat over ~2.5 years

I never had braces, thankfully..

But what I do have right now is a slight toothache Found a remedy online, put ground cloves on it, which for some strange reason I just happen to have. To my surprise it actually works, maybe it's the bad taste taking my mind off the pain

normally the braces should NOT affect your bite. BUT if you do have a deep overbite it is virtually impossible to set the brackets up so that they dont hit (because you have unusually long vertical overlap between your upper and lower front teeth.

Shiet dude, I had it even worse than that.

I had to wear an anti-bite plane.....basically it's a retainer that was attached to my top teeth and it was a molding to stop my teeth from overbiting.

So imagine braces + anti bite plane + 4 rubber bands and it was hell.

It should only be bad for the first few days. Your teeth should be quite a bit better by the weekend for the BBQ.
