Yes, it seems like we are at the beginning of a platform war. It is going to be an annoying decade while they work out that everyone having their own platform doesn't work, and that no individual publisher can offer enough to get people to use their platform without getting a bunch of other publishers onboard. If Microsoft can't do it, you can't Bethesda. Blizzard can only manage it because of WoW, and I doubt that even they could have done it today.
In the end it will be one or two that survive, and it will probably still be Steam simple because they have too much market share already.
Ugg. Yah, they all want that sweet 30% storefront cut. Digital storefronts are going to have to cut margins to attract large publishers if they don't want to turn into an indie garbage pit. The fact that steam has stopped curating titles isn't a good sign on that front. I don't care so much if they want their own store, just make some way to integrate friends lists from somewhere else for gods sake. I don't want to have to add all my friends to yet another service.
I wonder if there will be a launcher to the launcher. Basically some overlay that tracks all your crap from Steam or Origin or whatever else and displays it in one app that serves you ads to support the app.
Or not have cross platform play. Kind of sucks if there are 3stores and none support cross store front play.
It would be a good idea. It should not be that hard to do, you give it your passwords and it can pull the info from the webpages, and then send the commands to launch the game in the respective launcher.
Had to do the same for State of Decay 2Now that I think of it more this would be a perfect feature for Microsoft to add. Nobody shops the windows store for games, at minimum this would encourage people to at least look at the windows game store.
If there ever is a Fallout 5 (as opposed to Fallout 76 2) it will be so far in the future that the launcher wars will probably be over.Bethesda are saying they aren't releasing any new games on Steam. Fallout 76 I could care less about, but that means Fallout 5 will be limited to whatever launcher they decide to make which I won't do. I already have Steam and Battle.net (just for Starcraft HD), which to me is one distributor too many. I only install UPlay when I play Far Cry, then uninstall it the moment I'm done with the game.

I'd say the vast majority of people care about the game type. Lots of people only like single player. Lots of people prefer multiplayer. Considering the current flavor of the month is battle royale games, that proves that most people care about the game type.if it's fun who cares what type of game it classifies as? Some people still consider Destiny an MMO...
I don't play MMOs and I know several other posters here don't play them as well. I'm not saying the game won't be fun, but it's not for me. I don't care about online only games and I really don't care about multiplayer aspects in general anymore, so Fallout 76 just doesn't appeal to me in the slightest. I'm sure if I was given a copy for free I'd eventually play it, but since that's not going to happen and I'm not going to spend money on the game, I don't see this ending up in my library.speculation: 4.5 out of 5 people bashing it will play it and enjoy it.

I can understand not wanting to spend the money, especially if you're otherwise tied up, but until you actually play a game first hand your opinion (based solely on 3rd parties) is basically void.
