Well that's no more Bethesda for me, money grabbing trolls they are.
to be fair, they killed the paid mods on Steam Workshop about one day after they launched it, because customers complained.
You can't allow balance or overhaul mods for a game that is online. Now, what im curious about is if this is more like Dying Light or borderlands as far as online goes? So, more of a co-op game that is just fine as a single player game with quests and such, or is this more like rust and day-z where you join a persistent server and there is always the threat of pvp?No balance/overhaul mods is pretty weak. Bethesda has historically done a horrible job in this area. Although I guess the Fallouts weren't as bad as the Elder Scrolls.
Yes I realize that, but mods that changed game mechanics are the actual fun mods. There's nothing particularly interesting about adding 31 new flavors of worple sword, and I can count on one hand the number of quality story mods that have been produced since Oblivion. You can't allow balance or overhaul mods for a game that is online.
Exactly. For me, I find Fallout to be pretty much meh without Modern Firearms. Todd Howard gave an interview today where he spelled it out: No NPCs, no games without other players, no turning off PvP, no quests (other than seeking nuclear launch codes to grief each other.) Give the man his due, he’s straight up honest about it. This is the game he wanted to make, and while I don’t understand it, at least he didn’t try to lead on people like me in the hopes that we might find some element we don’t absolutely hate. It’s a straight up griefer fest with dress-up and decorating micro transactions. At least I now know that I can safely avoid anything Fallout related for at least the next three to seven years.Yes I realize that, but mods that changed game mechanics are the actual fun mods. This game looks like such shit, which kills me since I loved all of the mainline Fallout games (eg 1,2,3,NV,4). Bethesda is dead to me after turning one of the truly great single player story franchises into another crap shooter. Everyone you see now is a real person? You make your own stories? Bullshit, you make the story Bethesda, that's why I would have been paying you $60 (probably more like $90 since I would have bought the season pass too if this was a real Fallout game). That was the most disappointing E3 moment I have ever seen. And after all that talk about how Bethesda was still dedicated to single player gaming.

You know, the write your own story thing would have a place if a dev would actually competently build a sandbox. I've yet to see anyone put the thought and development resources into giving the players the depth of tools needed for good emergent gameplay. A lot of people complain oh these games are a griefer fest... well there's literally nothing else to do. It's either KOS everything, virtual chatroom, or barbie dreamhouse. And frankly why not just play barbie dreamhouse in creative mode where I don't have to grind all the materials? There's never enough environmental challenge to force players to cooperate and too many games let people do everything so they don't need to work together.Sounds like they are saving a ton of money making Fallout 76. Story mostly gutted, not as much content needed. Just a bit of an update in graphics. Let the online players write the story for you. At this time, it looks like a $20 bargain deal for me before I buy if.
