I bought TomTom One Third and OmniTech and compared their functions.
1. OmniTech is 4.3 inch touch screen, TomTom one is 3.5 in touch screen.
2. OmniTech is easy to operate, I use less time to get all the functions. TomTom one make me feel not so easy to get the correct choices. Or TomTom choice is too few.
3. Omnitech use Navetech map, Tomtom one use TeleAtlas map. Both maps lacks detailed information. For example, OmniTech doesn't have information about road on a campus parking lots, Tomtom one doesn't have the road in a shopping mall.
4. OmniTech is quicker giving recalcuated routes. TomTom delayed recalculation may let you spend more time.
5. Tomtom have a good website, you can update your map and even share your map with other. Until now, I cannot locate the manufacture of OmniTech. The SD card cannot be recognized by my computer, I am not sure how OmniTech will be updated. Considering U.S is not going to develop as fast as China, I guess using OmniTech might not be a problem.
6. OmniTech speakout the name of the street make you feel confident.
7. OmniTech has Power Saving mode. When not connected to power, it will automatically turn off. However, if you connect it to your car outlet, it will keep on. TomTom is always on unless you turned off.
8. TomTom has better image of map.
9. TomTom one on sale price 149 dollars. OmniTech on sale price 169dollars.
10. OmniTech have search function to locate the point of interest.
11. OmniTech is supported by Windows CE, is better with regard to manage your recent address, point of interest. These cannot be achieved in on TomTom.
