water gets pretty boring after awhile.

if you're looking for something sweet, go with crystal light. I usually need to water it down beyond their directions.

If your into tea, there's a new line of herbal teas by "The Republic of Tea" To my knowledge they're only sold online so far, but they taste good and the nutritional/anti-cancer value is insane. I've actually read articles detailing biological studies on the ingredients. One of the most healthy things you can drink IMO. They also have one specifically for weight loss. So far I've tried the "Get Clean", "Get Energized" and "Get some Zzzzzzzzzzs" Maybe it's power of suggestion, but they seem do what they claim.

And if you care, they're naturally caffeine free.

Crystal Light peach tea is great.

I am amused by everyone suggesting water for a sweet drink.

I always get diet cola at Costco. Used to get their own brand but they don't sell it anymore, so I get the cheapest they have now, which is Diet Pepsi.

Coke Zero if you really miss the regular soda taste. It comes the closest.

But really, at the beginning of the diet, lay off artificial sweeteners and caffeine. Drink water.

After 2 weeks or so, allow yourself a soda a day or so. Remember that diets are about discipline, not about substituting things that are bad for you w/ things that taste approximately like them, and flushing nutrition down the toilet at the same time.

Have you also tried Diet Coke?

My wife prefers regular coke but when it comes to diet she likes diet pepsi.

Don't wait until someone posts your favorite drink. Just go with water and excercise. Stick with that and treat yourself once in a while.

Exactly. I drink water 99% of the week. I'll have a coke once or twice a week when I'm eating dinner. Diet soda has a lot of caffeine and artifical sweeteners that will not help your diet.

If you feed the sugar cravings, they won't ever go away.

Hard to do I know - believe you me. You're talking to a lifetime dieter here.

Check out sparkpeople

It's free, it's easy. One of the most important things you can do is to track your food -- calorie intake etc. Spark will give you menus or you can do your own thing.

I've lost 7# since 1/2/07 by using SparkPeople and walking for exercise.

That's my .02, fwiw

If you must have something sweet, check out the Healthy Choice and/or Weight Watchers ice cream bars. I've only tried the WW Giant Cookies & Cream bars, but they are yummy.

If set on getting diet drinks, yes the Kirkland brand is good. Better than Slim-Fast I think.

Today we just picked up some "Fulfill" -- along the lines of Propel I think. It comes in little packets that you add to a 16.9 oz bottle of water. Nice taste, change of pace from regular water. Lemon, Kiwi-Strawberry, and Wild Berry. I've tried the first 2 thus far, and the kids approve of the Wild Berry.

As for bottled water, big thumbs up to the Kirkland brand. Great tasting, inexpensive. Our tap water tastes funky, so bottled it is around here.

Whoa, I can't believe nobody has pointed this out yet: There is substantial evidence that even drinking DIET sodas can lead to weight gain. I was a religious Diet Pepsi and Diet Dr. Pepper drinker for years and struggled with weight issues. Once I banished all Diet sodas from my diet and stuck to water only, the pounds began to melt off.

Check out this link.

For additional info, just do a Google search using the following: "diet soda makes you fat"

You should try flavored Seltzer Water, it's just carbonated water. You can also mix with a little lemon juice a a packet of splenda for sparkly lemonade.
