Why does it feel like we have been getting horribly molested with these sudden drops in price?

Holy crap. I was looking at these specific modules and was planning on ordering them if I decided to go Core 2... this may have just made up my mind for me. Jebus.

Sweet Deal.

Just placed my order. Hopefully comes in early next week, because the rebate needs to be postmarked within 10 days of the order date.

the 10th's are very good. i say if you're board and want another kit to play with then you should get these 8500's.

I dunno I think these ocz 8500's is prolly the best deal thus far for any high speed micorn d9 memory. The only other which would come close is that firestix for $120 but.... even then $20 more for 8500 is prolly a better deal.

Hmnm, got in on this when they were $189.99 after MIR (and still waiting for my check from OCZ).

Maybe I should pick up another 2 GB since the price is so low.

Somebody help me out here, isn't there some reason not to run 4 GB of RAM? This is for an overclocked Intel E6600 running on an NVIDIA 680i MOBO and I'm probably going to end up dual booting XP and Vista if that makes a difference.

IIRC, Windows XP will not see all 4GB of RAM. The actual amount seen depends on your specific hardware configuration, as the more bells and whistles your mobo has, the more add-on cards are installed, etc etc, the more memory address space will be used which means LESS space for the OS to recognize the RAM. The actual size will likely vary between 3GB and 4GB, but you won't be able to utilize all 4GB.

Aren't there also some issues with overclocking with 4GB? It's kind of hazy for me too.

Edit Here we go. 4GB of RAM would be a waste for me unless I go to 64 bit versions of XP and Vista. There's a 4 GB limit on addressable memory and my 1,536 MB of 8800 GTXs in SLI are going to leave me with only 2,464 MB left.

You'll simply have to convince her that it was all the Vampire's doing.

I jumped on this --- my rig is about 2 years old and its about time to do the MB dance all over again..

Can someone recommend a current hot deal recipie for a mobo + cpu, and suggest a video card for good measure, that would go nicely with this RAM?

Thx..
