Has anyone heard anything about the Argus DC3150 1.3 MegaPixel camera? I'm looking for something to spend my $50 gift certs on and this camera looked good for my son to use to get pics on his skateboard website.

The reviews at 800.com seem fishy since all were posted on the same day. All of the inexpensive items at 800.com seem overpriced.

Hey - for the Fuji rebate, what do you use as a receipt? The invoice it shipped with or the email 800.com sent? Thanks folks-

For those interested, this deal just got hotter:

From FW:

"As usual, use your Amex Blue and MS Passport checkout to get this final price. Go to Ritz and put the camera & a Ritz 64MB SmartMedia card in the basket - total = $350 shipped. You get a $25 Ritz rebate on the card AND a $35 Fuji rebate on the card, both when you buy the card with the camera. You can file for both since they take copies of each other's receipts and/or UPC's. You'll get $60 back from MS and $85 back from Amex Blue by pricematching with ."this Yahoo store.

So, your net is as follows:
$350 - $60 rebates - $60 MS Passport - $85 Amex PM = $145 shipped! Hurry, MS Passport expires 12/20. Both of these are in stock, I just ordered this deal. Camera gets great reviews from all sites for the price."

Just got back from my trip in Europe with this camera. This thing takes the WORST pictures EVER if you're not in sunlight and/or don't have the flash on. My brother's $100 freaking digital camera takes 100x better pictures in low light settings. I'm hoping that mine is just broken and I'm going to return it for another. If that one is the same, I'm just returning it. Doesn't matter if the camera is cheap if it can't take pictures. :|

Wow....is it that bad? I was jumping on this, but missed the 800 deal, and just now going for the Ritz, and this post.

so.......anyone else used this yet? how is it in "normal lighting conditions"?

I have seen nothing but positive reviews of this camera. That isn't to say he didn't get a bad one or just has a different standard than the rest of us. I don't think you are making a bad choice by purchasing one, especially at this price. Just keep in mind that it isn't a professional's camera.

Pictures in sunlight look great. I can't take pictures with the flash off. As soon as I turn the flash off, the "camera is shaking" icon pops up and won't go away. Even if I set the camera on the ground. Most pictures with the flash off or low light look like crap. I couldn't take ANY pictures of the city lights in Paris. Good thing I had my regular 35mm camera with me.

And sjshaw, I don't expect a professional camera for this price, but mine really can't take ANY pictures without background light.

I think you just don't know what you are doing. Read the manual.

For $145 shipped with a 64MB SM card, this deal is a no-brainer to me, which is why I bought it and posted the deal on FW. Go to www.shopper.com, Amazon, www.imaging-resource.com, Epinions, etc. and read the user reviews. EVERYONE LOVES THIS CAMERA. So its not the best at low-light, or you don't like it for some other reason, that's ok. Ebay it and the card and make $100 or more on the deal.

LOL too late, someone's already thought of that... Ebay Fuji 2600 listing

Just got my new 4 Monster Brand NiMH batteries today that I called 800.com last week to replace the crappy Digipower NiMHs... Really fast if you ask me. anyhow, they seem to charge fine.. so it seems like it was the batteries that were giving us all problems.

btw, taking pics indoors for me seems to give problems too. If I turn off the flash to take a pic, the picture will almost always come out blurry (as if my hand was not steady). Any tips for better indoor picture taking?

Use forced flash indoors, not auto/red eye reduction, unless you're doing a super closeup, YMMV. I'm learning too, but that gave me the best results.

Exactly! If you turn the flash off, the "unsteady" light comes on and there's no way to fix it. And the pictures come out BLURRY!

My camera was DOA so I made an exchange, then MSN told me i can't get the rewards anymore and replied my question with this email wich i think is totally BS...i'm so pissed off rite now~~~

"As per MSN eShop Rewards Program policy, if you return an item and place an
exchange order over the phone or any other method other than through MSN eShop
and using Passport Express Checkout, you disqualify for the rewards program.
Moreover, 800.com went out of the promotion on 12-07-2001 at 10:00 PM PDT.

Therefore, we regret to inform you that it will not be possible for us to offer
you the reward any longer. If 800.com gave you such information as to we
offering the reward for exchange orders, we sincerely apologize for the
misinformation on behalf of 800.com."

WTF is this!

Call Microcrap Corp. office and ask how to purchase a $00.00 RMA??

Then ask for their legal dept., if they want to settle out of small claims court. ...and act pissed.

Re swapping out a faulty camera - either swap it our after you receive your MSN check; or if it's too late to do that, buy another one, then return the original.

Who said this thing doesnt take good indoor pictures?
Take a look at this one I took of my daughter. Im only going to leave it up for a day.
Peyton
Also I have some of those GP1800 batteries,I used them in the camera today and got two pictures out of them before the low batteries light came on,about 10 later it wouldnt power up.This was with the LCD on and full quality.I also bought some of the Energizer NIHM(1600mah) w/charger at Wal-Market,these are far the best batteries I have used yet, better than the fuji's,GP's and the lame DigiPower ones.I got about 40+ pictures out of these batteries before the Low light came on.Its on now and Im still taking pictures with the same set of batteries(finished for the day, going to bed).
I read in the Cameras owners manual that it might take 3-4 charges to get the ful life of the batteries. If so good for the fujis and Gps,great for the Energizers!
If you read you owners manual really well it will be a much better camera for you.I found a lot of things that I didnt even know that I could do,like set white balance and how to take a picture of an illuminated object.
By the way,I called 800 about the batteries & charger being defective, told me to call fuji, called fuji they told me to call DigiPower,I asked for there # and fuji doesnt have it,said they were in Taiwain somewhere? So they told me to call 800,so I did AT NIGHT!The guy I got,I told him I needed these batteries so i could use this on Christmas, and the last guy I spoke to was SUPPOSED to send me another set,but didnt. The CSR told me to go buy a set of batteries and a charger(combo)then fax him the receipt and he would credit my CC for the amount.Cool,so I did.Got that taken care of.Now I have 2 fuji,4 Energizer & 4 GP1800's(got off E-bay).Plus three chargers(Energizer, fuji & GP).I also still have the DigiPower batteries and charger but they are trash.
WHew! Good night.HOPE SANTA IS GOOD TO YOU ALL!
I love my new fuji 2600Z!

i just noticed that the rebate form for Smartmedia requires and "original form" - i was sent a photocopy from 800.com. Will a photocopy suffice?
