Props to Peyton for ekeing out out another $4 off the deal I posted in the
Thread xilluzionx referenced (go to Gateway Accessory, apply coupon get camera and Smartmedia for 269 shipped, then get $35 rebate and pricematch to Amex Blue). Unfortunately, my original pricematch target has cooled, as
This place's price has gone up. I ordered mine from Gateway a week ago Saturday, and it got here a week ago Tuesday. Not bad for a holiday weekend.
As I have had both cameras, there's simply no comparison between the 2300 and the 2600. If you insist on buying the 2300, you'd probably be happier with the
Olympus D360. The last item in that thread wonders why not buy the 2300 for $50 more? Answer: no lens cover, slow cycle time and odd shape (not small enough to go in your pocket, and even if it did, the lens is susceptible to scratching). Some of these same points are valid in the 2300 vs 2600 comparison. The 2600 is more compact, fits in the pocket, has 2 batteries vs 4 and has optical zoom. A way more versatile camera for not much more.
