<< Quick question:
Does this camara take good pictures at night ?
Thanks
>>

From imaging-resource.com:

<< The 2600 Zoom features full automatic exposure control and a maximum shutter speed of 1/2-second, which significantly limits the camera's low-light shooting capabilities without flash. During our testing, the camera captured bright, clear images at light levels only as low as four foot-candles (44 lux), which is about two EV stops brighter than average city street lighting at night. (This camera wouldn't be your first choice if you planned to do a lot of available-light night photography.) However, the 2600 Zoom produced good color in its low-light shots and very low noise. >>

Props to Peyton for ekeing out out another $4 off the deal I posted in the Thread xilluzionx referenced (go to Gateway Accessory, apply coupon get camera and Smartmedia for 269 shipped, then get $35 rebate and pricematch to Amex Blue). Unfortunately, my original pricematch target has cooled, as This place's price has gone up. I ordered mine from Gateway a week ago Saturday, and it got here a week ago Tuesday. Not bad for a holiday weekend.

As I have had both cameras, there's simply no comparison between the 2300 and the 2600. If you insist on buying the 2300, you'd probably be happier with the Olympus D360. The last item in that thread wonders why not buy the 2300 for $50 more? Answer: no lens cover, slow cycle time and odd shape (not small enough to go in your pocket, and even if it did, the lens is susceptible to scratching). Some of these same points are valid in the 2300 vs 2600 comparison. The 2600 is more compact, fits in the pocket, has 2 batteries vs 4 and has optical zoom. A way more versatile camera for not much more.

american express will not pricematch if you use the coupon...they will apply the coupon in as if it was part of the item. so if you buy something for

120 - 40 coupon

then you see something for $75 later, you only get $5 back. and since AMEX minimum price for price matching is $10, you would get nothing.

I "Blue" PMed 800.com's $299 2600Z, with buydig.com/WorldWide Direct's $223 2600Z. At Buydig, the kit is part of the $263 Executive 2600Z, while 800.com lists the kit seperatly. Nice deal at $95 with free kit and 64meg. $35, but 41 in the cart. I called and got my $6 an change. (SMILE)

FYI: Amex "Blue" PM.

I bought a SB Audagy and something else, with a Staples $20 off $100 coupon at their B&M. Since it was $75 vs. $85 +/- Staples ttl, I got $10. With general coupons in that case, they go off final total, as the max. Had I bought $100+, I would have had $25. $75 was from a sleezy OEM unmarked as OEM on web page....

What 800.com price did you use when PM'ing? Listed price is 299.95, but right next to that, it says "see cart for special price", which presumably rules out 299.95. After adding to cart, then going there, breakdown is all over the place. They might take 284.95 as the price, = 299.95 - 15.00 "all electronics on sale". But the very obvious $50 Gift certificate could complicate things. Any advice on this?

Thanks.

The camera page helpfully refers to the manufacturers $35 rebate when purchasing camera + Smartmedia, and says "more details on the rebate form". Unfortunately, there's no link to it that I can find. How do I get an original rebate form? There's mention in the thread of calling Fuji for it - does anyone have the right phone number for this?

wombat44:
The "special discount" is on the bottom, % of electronics sale. They charged me $299. All they wanted was e-mail conf., which doesn't show credits.
-$16.78 with Sandisk and -$4.19 seperate Sandisk credits not shown and seperate from price, on web printout. That's all on the bottom coupons/credits section. The Sandisk/Fuji $35 rebate comes with the camera, online chat told me, so it's a money maker. Mine will ship Fri. 11/23 and receive date of 12/4. They didn't want final receipt, or web printout.

Make sure the status says "Committed for Shipping". I had to call the CSR and have them ship seperately. Sched. to ship Feb., for a pre-order DVD. I cancelled that, so the camera is going out, while Sandisk and ACCESSORYKT are on backorder. Too late and miss the MSN bonus. 800.com charges your card day of shipment.

awaiting inventory, awaiting shipment

Back ordered, not packed. I told them to ship what they had. I just got e-mail conf. that camera, kit and I think memory rebate shipped w/tracking. The kits are OOS, but no extra charge to ship seperately. Either I get 2 kits and Sandisks, or the order page is screwed up (still says ship Feb. 2002). It says partial shipment-camera only.

I dunno...

We won't really miss the MSN bonus will we? I mean if we've already bought using MS Passport, they should already log that we've placed an order. I guess we'll see in a week when our confirmation email should arrive...

Just make sure your CC is charged before the offer expires, which may be early like last year and that will make it too late . I didn't feel like gambeling with MS. My camera wouldn't have shipped today, if I didn't cancel the DVD and say send what's in stock. Bad enough it takes a week, from the left coast to NY. No extra cost to split the memory and kit and have a partial shipment, so why wait?

Then you're OK. I had mine changed late and ordered a 64Meg not 32M Sandisk, which will probably ship Monday.--"awaiting shipment". The kit is "awaiting inventory", but e-mail said it shipped too, although their web page says only camera shipped. I should have mine 12/4. All held up for a Feb. DVD, to ship together.

Hmm Im at the website and it does say "These items will ship when they all become available" and beside each item it says order on hold. I wonder if thats because something isnt in or because its the weekend. But then again it does still says expected to ship 11/26. Eh oh well guess ill find out monday.
