Is it just me, or are the NiMH batteries that come in the bonus kit pure garbage? They died very quickly in the Fuji 2600, and now after an FULL overnight charge, they don't even hold enough power to even take ONE picture in my Minolta Dimage 7. The brand name on the batteries I got is Digipower, and there is no MaH rating on them...I'm assuming they hold around 100 MaH or so, given their 'performance' :Q Anyone have better luck with the batteries, or might the Digipower charger be the problem?

On a side note, does anyone know anything about the Nexcell "Platinum Series" NiMH batteries - a Sunnbattery ad on EBAY mentioned them, and implied they would be better than the 1800MaH GP rechargeables.

I think that we all got this one in the accessory kit... DigiPower charger

The specs say that the NiMHs are 1350 mAH even though they aren't labelled as such... the only problem I had out of the box was that I could only charge 3 out of 4 batteries... hella weird if you ask me.. I was able to charge it later by charging only 2 at a time.

yo peyton, if we all purchased over $300 at 800.com, and MSN is rebating us $60, how is that 10%? That's a lot closer to 20%...

The kit's box says Digipower DPS 1000 NiMH battery kit and 4 rech. batteries. AFAIK the batteries are limited to the charger's rating, according to 800.com's CSR. Looks like 1000 is wishful thinking, since it's unrated anywhere else.

Thanks for the info...I decided to call 800.com, told them about the battery problem and they took *real good* care of me.

Thanks, I did...but can we trust the world's cheapest battery to rate themselves? It looks like my cheapo DPS charger is junk too and has one dried leaked battery. I put all 4 in the Monster 1800 mAH NiMH quick charger and will see what happens.
(Only 3 were charged in the DPS 1000 charger)

Woohoo! Just got my Amex PM check for $56. I also managed to spend my GC at 800.com before they were taken off the list. I'll be getting an $80 check from MSN now.

Hey, is anybody having problems registering their camera with the included software? I've tried on a XP and an NT machine and it doesn't works. The rebate states you need to register the camera's serial number to be eligible for the $35 rebate. Maybe I'll try phoning fuji tomorrow.

First option #5 CSR who xfered me...probably to sales. He said I was #3 tonight with complaints and that they were aware of it. I called 10:30PM ET just before closing time. It looks like an x-ship with 800.com paying postage.

Call sales, or get the CSR stupidvisor. I was told they are exchanging the whole kit (probably returned to Fuji). Only the camera says to return to fuji.

That dosen't solve the/their crapper problem.
I got that charger too...3-4 hr. quick charge. The DPS ones were for flashlights, since I want to scrap the NiCads
He assured me the new kit had a different charger, since I didn't whant the same junker. 800 is top shelf, so I'd give them another chance.

hmm.. so just call and complain? I should have thought about that earlier... Any idea what brand the new charger is? As long as they pick up the shipping, I'll do it. Do we return the entire kit or just the charger + batteries set?

I always liked 800.com's service... esp that one time they hooked me up with that James Bond Set about a year back ago for hella cheap...

Excellent advice. Better yet, keep the camera off, put it in a drawer for a year, and the batteries will last even longer :Q

Hard to believe they said that...800.com's customer service seemed outstanding to me on the 2 occasions that I have used them.

Yes, the entire kit. Probably since it's a Fuji part, they have to exchange the entire part. The new charger will be slightly better, not the same DPS 1000.

I just got off the phone with them now.. and they said, "The consensus around here is that it's the batteries that need to be replaced". The CSR I talked to said they would send me the "Monster Brand" of batteries... they didn't mention anything about me returning the other batteries.. but I'm sure they will.. Otherwise I'll have an extra 3 (out of 4) usable batteries.. yeah! Gotta wait about 3-5 business days... so I'll post back what goes on later.

I just got off the phone with Nathan and his supervisor,they said there was nothing they could do because it was a free item,they will be happy to replace it with the same item.They also said this was the first they had heard of a bad kit!?
"theres no way we can replace it with something other than the same thing"
I told them about you guys having the same problem,and they said you guys were giving me bad info,mine was the first case!
Also wants me to send my kit back,then they will send me another....oh by the way there on back order,wont be here till after Christmas!So I cant use it on Christmas day,unless I go by some more batteries at another store.
WTF is that all about?
I asked about what if the NEW kit is bad also,he said it wont be bad.He has ESP.
This is from the supervisor(Jeff I think)I got POed and forgot his name.
I think Ill just call them back and send EVERYTHING that I ordered from them for the holidays back!
Free kit=you get what you pay for=junk(well the case is nice).

They sent me a bad charger and batteries also. Now we can all wait till 2002 for the new kit with hopefully working batteries and charger. The csr told me, if the new kit arrives and doesnt work either, I should ask for a supervisor and get him to send monster batteries and charger in exchange.

Did they e-mail you a USPS priority mail label? Call the night crew, when the day crew gives you trouble. I always use the day crew for efficiency and night crew for "niceness". I got 2 #4 packs of Monster batteries, for $29.xx, with elect. discount and free shipping adj., on another item, when they overlapped for a few hrs. ...from the night crew-sales.
