Opteron 165. Get'er and OC'er. Bout half the cost of the 4400+. I was going to do the exact same thing until the people here convinced me otherwise. My order is going in this friday. If you get the 165 you can OC it to very strong speeds.

Most applications are single threaded and won't see a speed up themselves with the second core. The OP probably wants to know if these tasks will run the same speed on the dual core box.
Click the CPU tab on the main AnandTech website. You won't see "4400+" speeds in most applications, speed will be about the same as a single-core with the same clock (2.x GHz) and cache.
Correct, but for multi tasking, which is ALWAYS going on in windows, it does make a difference. Running a game will be more efficient, and will indeed run smoother.
I just wanted to know if the 3700 will run faster with a game than a 4400x2 would. I've been reading since most games are single thread and require affinity to be set to a particular core. I just don't want to lose much on games. If it's equal to the 3700 (that has to run windows and the game) then I'm ordering today
