Its not the fat, its the sugar its loaded with. There are better alternatives to milk while bulking or cutting. A lot of people like to bulk clean, obviously if you arent then milk doesnt matter so much. Protein powder plus milk is way to many calories (for cutting). A large portion of people in this country are fat because they intake way to many calories and sugars through liquids. Like i said, if you are really trying to do it the most efficient way, then milk is not the answer. Sure you can drink milk and get the same results, but you will have to work harder. Sugar = insulin = body preparing to store fat.

Wrong.

Whole milk has a glycemic index of 27.

You = don't know what you're talking about => STFU.

Unfortunately, the gylcemic index measures the change in blood sugar, not the insulin response. Milk is actually much higher on the insulin index, although still below whey. That being said, a cup of skim is around ~12 grams of sugar, not exaclty "loaded" with sugar and has ~80 cals. 100 cals is pretty easy to fit into a diet.

Yes but that doesnt mean the person making their protien shake is going to use a cup. When you think about it all that powder loaded into just a cup of milk is going to taste like ass anyways and it will defeat the purpose of using milk to make it taste better. Then you also have to take into account that a lot of people do 2 shakes a day, so thats twice the milk. I'm just saying in my opinion man up and drink it with water and either replace those calories with something better, or if you are trying to lose weight thats just a few hundred extra calories you dont have to worry about.

I don't know why people obsess for so long over sugar or something else they may have come across in an article on t-mag. Workout frequently and hard, watch your calories, and eat decently. There truly is no need to freak over the exact timing and nutrient ratios in your food. For most of us, this is akin to spending hours ensuring that every single string in your tennis racket is exactly and perfectly taut to microscopic tolerances but you don't even have a backhand, cannot serve for crap, and moreover your knees are blown so you cannot even move around the court to begin with.

QFT. Power without milk tastes like crap, Milk somehow makes everything taste better. Though it has been fun seeing him proven wrong at every corner.

Holy crap, I have never seen such a load of BS and half truths in all my life!

Since cows must be pregnant to give milk, calves are considered a ?byproduct? of the industry. Wailing calves are taken away from distraught mothers a day or two after birth so that their milk can be shipped to our supermarkets instead of nourishing the calves...

this was Obviously written by someone who knows absolutely nothing about mammals and pregnancy, or raising calves.

Calves aren't looked on as "The unfortunate byproduct" Rather they are more like gold. The loss of a calf is devistating to anyone related to cows because it represents a huge loss of potential income.

Not only that, but the "Stripping away" doesn't happen for at least a week or two. Why? because cows milk, like humans, is so filled with hormones that no sane person would ever consider drinking it (it is literally yellow, and smells very nasty). After that, the cow will produce milk for nearly a year before it needs to become impregnated again, and even then you don't milk a pregnant cow, again hormones are pretty dang bad.

The other think this person failed to realize is the fact that dairy cows will often produces much more milk then the calf is capable of drinking, if you let it drink to its hearts content it will become pretty sick. So in a way they are doing the calves a favor by "stripping" them from their mothers.

<- Milked cows by hand for about 10 years when I was young.

Whey protein just won't taste very good- not matter what. Find one that doesn't repulse you and stick with it.. it's worth it.

I bought the syntha-6 whey protein powder in vanilla from Amazon and I thought it tasted amazing. It's more expensive than other brands but you get a good product.
After I ran out, I bought the 10lb Dymatize Elite pack and I have to say the Syntha-6 tastes better.

All good points. PETA = epic failure, too bad the stupid organization is so big that it's wrongdoings are largely ignored by people with genuinely good intentions.

So I have been using the GNC brand 100% Whey protein Vanilla flavor. I went today to pick up more and noticed the Unflavored version had 1 more gram of protein, 1 more serving, and was $1 less than the other flavors, so I picked it up. By far the worse drink I have ever had EVER. I took half of it straight down before I stopped and almost vomitted. I'm guessing there is no return policy with an open and used (once) package. I think I may take it back and tell them the package was unsealed when I purchased it to see if I can exchange for another flavor.
