Onboard graphics or Old Video card

I am in the process of upgrading my system... I currently have ASUS A8N deluxe - SLI ...AMD athlon 3500+ and an ATI X1900 Video card.

I Just Upgraded to ASUS M4A785TD-V MB ..AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition.....OCZ AMD Black Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600....

Right now I do not have the money to upgrade my video card ...would it be better to Use the onboard video (ATI Radeon HD 4200 GPU) or run my X1900.... does it make sense to buy another X1900 for like $75 ???

The x1900 is much faster then the 4200. I would sell the x1900 and buy a used 4850 for 85$.

Depends on the games you like to play but, the X1900 is still light years ahead of of the on board video and doesn't tax the CPU.

The onboard GPU will eat into your other system resources (like system memory). You are better off running the X1900.

You can use a DVI to HDMI adapter. I ran one on an old 6600GT to my HDTV and it worked perfectly.

I have a DVI to HDMI cable from Monoprice and when I ran it it didnt look that good ..maybe Im doing something wrong..

If you plan on upgrading to something faster than a 4850 soon, then just keep the x1900.

No don't use onboard just use your 1950 until you have 100 bones for a 8800 or 9800 or

4850. your CPU is bottleneck for a higher end card. gl

Excuse me? I'd pair a X2 550 with a HD 5870 and wouldn't think twice about it ...
