I have played the same game on a console and a PC and there
is no doubt that the PC is far better. I could not imagine playing
an FPS with a joystick rather than a KB & Mouse.

I agree that FPS games are better suited for the PC. But I can think of several other genres that are better on a console... Sports, fighting, platformers, etc...

Not to mention that there are many games that aren't even offered on the PC.... Splinter Cell, NHL2k3, NFL2k3, Resident Evil, Zelda, Mario, etc. (Yes, I understand that many of those don't interest everyone. I just listed examples.)

Well, since the Xbox came out, I've hardly played on my PC at all. Now that Xbox Live is out, I'm almost in my perfect gamer heaven (when a few more Live titles come out I'll be there).

I had played on my GameCube a bit... but Metroid was a huge letdown for me... I think I'm the only one that feels this way, maybe because I don't hold Nintendo in any high regard as I'm totally platform agnostic, heck I even owned a 3DO. But since Xbox Live hit, PC, GameCube are gathering the dust and I just outright sold my PS2 as I'm totally happy with the Xbox library of games, and the PC can pick up the scraps. I think I'll sell my GameCube as well, as their is absolutely nothing on the horizon that excites me for it.

To each his own... but I give mad props out to the Xbox, it's games and especially Xbox Live... it has made me one VERY happy gamer!

Yeah the only thing that has kept me on the PC bandwagon for the last 3 years was multiplayer online. Since only a few companies are serious about having decent gaming services (B.net, EA, Sony), I took the plunge and bought an Xbox with Live. Considering I upgrade my PC components so often, I figure $300 on a complete system isn't such a big deal.

It's PCs all the way for me.

Consoles can never hope to compete with the superior speed, controls, image quality and versatility that PCs offer.

It's a rare occasion when it happens, but I'll have to disagree with you on this one, BFG.

Outside of the higher resolution (which can be mostly negated with a HDTV), there are many games that are head and shoulders better than their PC counterparts. Sports games come immediately to mind. They look better on the consoles and the controls are infinitely better.

I can't think of a single PC game that looks better than Splinter Cell. I am certain that there isn't one currently with better lighting effects. Is there a more enjoyable game on the PC at all? Not imho.

Sound is not even comparable. The PC is no competition for the Xbox's true 5.1 Dolby Digital. Is there even a single PC game with 5.1 DD?

As I said before, it depends on the particular game and genre. Some are better on PC's, and some are better on the console.

And many extremely fun games are simply not available on one or the other platform.
