Meh, I like my 2005fpw

Lappy has 1920x1200 and it's great, but 1680x1050 is perfect for gaming.

Any card with two DVI ports should be able to drive two separate displays at 1920x1200 (which is the limit for single-link DVI as far as I am aware). Now, as far as doing any sort of gaming like that....can we say "slideshow"?

Edit: and it would actually be 3840x1200....3840x2400 would be four monitors

Actually gaming on it won't be that bad. Going from 16x12 to 19x12 will be less than going from 10x7 to 16x12, and a single 6800 Ultra or X8x0XT card can handle 16x12 with 4xAA with not too much difficulty in nearly every game (D3, FC, and HL2 included). In fact 2xAA on 1920x1200 should be less strenuous than 4xAA on 1600x1200.

then again, I would be torn between the 2, just like I did with 2001fp and 2005fp

whats the diff between the 2001f and 2005f, besides the 2005f having LOWER max resolution than the 2001f?

I would love the 1920x1200 res

I have it on a dell 9200 lappy with a 17" screen and oh so much screen real estate!

no problems when doing massive network diagrams in Visio!

only downside is that test is too damn small on the 17" screen, it should be fully legible to me on a 24" screen

i'd rather have video inputs (svid, component, composite) rather than the damn card reader on there. who doesn't already have some sort of card reader for their pc already? wouldn't it be better to be able to hook up your ps2 or xbox directly to your LCD than having to have a separate TV? unless of course you have a nice hdtv.

meh....ok, what the hell, I'll be that guy:

my $350 22" CRT still runs at higher res (2048x1536) and likely has better color.

LCD prices need to come WAAAAAY down before I'll even think about it. like a 30" cinema display for <$1000 or a IBM t221 for <$1500

edit and the IBM would be REAL 3840x2400

Cheers!

I was under the impression that LG.Philips makes all of Dell's LCD panels.

 to LG.Philips.

What's the refresh rate on that puppy?

The thing about LCDs that really makes me want one is just how crisp and vibrant they tend to be. Also, the concept of the viewing area being on something relatively flat makes it all the more surreal. With a CRT, if I wish to run it at a high resolution, I usually have to sacrafice 20 or 30 Hz and deal with an eye strain.

running as the sole monitor on my 5900 ultra, it does 75 Hz, however If I plug in a second display (17" old crt), it can only do 1920x1440 at that rate. which is why the 17" is on it's own pci card

don't get my wrong, I'd love a nice big LCD as a second monitor, if only to cut down on the desk footprint/weight. But with the only lcds I could even stand to use (16x12 is pretty much a minimum for me, I do cad, 3d & graphics) running $600 at a minimum, it just ain't worth it.

and yeah, you'd have to increase your text size on a T221. 9 Megapixels on a display....204 pixels/in^2..... sigh...that would be awesome. (but it's not $7k awesome)
