it all depends on your situation...
if you're a father with 3 children..ya probably shouldn't be buying this monitor. However to us single guys...it isn't much. Hell, I can save a month to get this monitor.
Also, I paid $1K for my 21" sony trinitron years ago, and it was a damn good investment...I almost don't want to let it go. Maybe I'll run dual monitor
no need to save for a house or anything ?Originally posted by: FreshPrince

unfortunately mine will only do it under 1024x768x32
I need to find a monitor that will do 1600x1200x32@120Hz!
anything below 120Hz hurts my eyes after a couple hours.
If you have a camera you can see what I'm talking about. Look at a monitor through the camera's viewfinder and you will see anything under 120Hz flickers like crazy...that's why my eyes hurt after a while. With 120Hz, my eyes are much more relaxed because I no longer see the flickering, in place is a slow steady image scroll. Give it a shot and you will never set your monitor under 120Hz again!
Now with LCDs, the refresh rate doesn't mean a thing, because you can set it at 60Hz and see no flickering through a viewfinder...
why? I have no idea!

i run dual 19in CRTs at 1600x1200 both a 75Hz you cant see flickering
and also to prove you wrong i just looked at both my monitors through my D70 and F100 and you cant see any flickering at 75Hz, i can set the 4x5 up for further proof but thats bnot needed IMO

if you can't see the flicker through the viewfinder..then turn on the lcd on the camera and I guarantee you will see the flickers...either that or you have your monitor set to pretty high frequencies...
Good thing I can afford lighting that's better than the crap bulbs you use.Originally posted by: Viper GTS

You're flat out wrong on the limitations of the human eye, but even if you accept that perception of flicker is highly affected by surroundings. Interference with fluorescent lighting, for example, can make an otherwise tolerable refresh rate unbearable.
