similar here. My P35 mobo will be 5 yrs old in July.Probably 3570K. Been stuck on a Q9450 since early 2008.
I will be keeping my i7-920 until it bottlenecks my graphics card
Unless the 3570K is at least 20% faster than my very fast 2500K, it just doesn't seem worth it to me. 20% seems pretty unrealistic too.
Yep it is pretty much same thing. It doesn't make sense to upgrade unless you are 2 or more generations behind.
Though IB allows RAM OC'ing up to and beyond 3000MHz, which is complete insanity! So for those who like to bench or love OC'ing RAM, the new IB/Z77 combo brings some exciting new stuff to the table, in my opinion
Most Z77 boards will support Ddr3 2800
right, however im pretty sure that the BIOS wont support anything over 2133 with a SB chip installed
