It's back again, for $298 AR. I've used this for a few weeks now, and it's a great LCD. Product Info

My original post from the first sale below:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Haven't seen this posted (probably cuz Fry's didn't list a brand for this LCD in their weekly ad), so here goes:

Hyundai ImageQuest L70S LCD
- 1280x1024 native resolution
- 450:1 contrast ratio
- .264mm pixel pitch
- 16ms refresh*
- NO DVI

*Hyundai's monitor site seems to be down ATM, so I found these specs at this site. Also, here's the Outpost link.

The Austin, TX and Dallas (Garland), TX Fry's have 100+ left, each.

I picked one up, and so far, it looks pretty good. Q3 and BF1942 both seem to run well - but I haven't experienced 3D games on a "killer" LCD (such as a Samsung), so I don't have any other LCD experience to compare to.

This is somewhat of a repost but it deserves its own thread anyway since the other one is kind of old. This seems like a great deal. Can you confirm that it's 16ms from the manual or something? Hyundai's site does't mention the response rate, and the only place I was able to find it was that French site that you pointed to. Also, how does it look when its running FPS games with regards to trailing/ghosting? Thanks!

I think if it is 16ms at this price, I think this is the time where I say "screw DVI".

I have been waiting for a 17" 16ms response time lcd with dvi to drop under $350, but it just never seems like it is going to happen.

After a basic google search. it seems that this is a 16ms panel... Well hooah, I've found my new monitor, and for $150 under what I was expecting to pay!

I think my initial post and the other thread pretty much sums it up - damn good for the price. Works well with games, crisp text, no noticeable ghosting, and a killer warranty (3 years, and others have mentioned that 2 dead pixels = replacement).

DVI is worth it all the way. It makes your LCD as close to a CRT as you can get in picture quality. No fuzziness at all on the 16ms panels and DVI. Take away the DVI and I don't care what panel you have the text will not be as crisp and the graphics will always feel a little off.

But it also MSRPs for double what the Hyundai is going for - BEFORE the rebates. Didn't find the 7GX on Pricewatch or eBay.

Might be good for corporate users who don't have time to fuss over replacements. But then this is ATHD, not AT Enterprise Solutions

Here is the Manufacturer's web site.

Tom's Hardware reviewed the Q17A model. It reported the response time to be 20ms, but called it the
The Q17A may well be the best monitor around at the moment. It offers a response time of 20 ms, USB hub, good looks, well-designed ergonomics, height-adjustment arm, good-quality housing, speakers and sound inputs in the base - the only thing it lacks for perfection is a wall-mounting device. It even has a double video input. And you have the option of analog or digital. We tested both.
Please, note that the DVI is listed as optional on the Hyundai web site. It is not sure how the "A" and "S" differ from each other.

Argh I just bought Benq 17" (500:1, 16ms, 260cd/2) for $350 shipped through ebay.

Hyundai is going for around $ 360 on ebay.

Can somebody confirm that this monitor has DVI connection

The Hyundai L70s does NOT have a DVI connection, nor does the BenQ you bought. Another good deal right now is the Cornea 17" at Amazon for $299 (also does NOT have a DVI connection).

The Hyundai Q17 DOES have a DVI connection, but there is no deal for this monitor right now.

according to the specs on the hyundai site, there is no DVI connection, only an analog connection.

i went ahead and ordered it...i think it will be sufficient for my needs since i don't do much gaming whatsoever.

LOL...thats the problem...no one can say for sure...

The Hyundai has a 16ms panel, 260 nits brightness, and 450:1 CR...but also costs $30 more because of taxes (~$330)...plus shipping if you buy from Outpost.
The Cornea has a 20ms panel, 250 nits brightness, and 500:1CR....and costs exactly $300 because Amazon doesn't charge tax (to most of us) and has free shipping.
The Cornea seems to have a brighter panel, but some claim that the text is a little fuzzy on the Cornea.
Both LCDs have gotten great reviews on the net (although the reviews for the Hyundai are more recent).
I have seen the Hyundai up close and personal and it seems to be a really nice unit (very crisp text even w/o DVI)...brightness was good, but not amazing.

Hyundai and Cornea both have good dead pixel policies (Hyundai's is a little bit better).

It is very easy to return to a Fry's B&M (not so easy to return to Outpost however) if you have any problems...
it is also easy to return to Amazon, but would take a longer time.

So basically this is my dilemma in a nut shell. Both seem to be excellent monitors...I might buy both and return the one I don't like.

Also, I have read many reviews that say the viewing angle on the Cornea is not very good.

On the question of DVI and text crispness... are Laptop LCD's connected internally via a DVI or DVI-like interface? If not, i think not having DVI isn't such a bad thing - i have a 15" 1600x1400 IBM LCD Panel (laptop) to base my comparison on - and on this screen, text is pretty crisp as far as i'm concerned.

Yep. It certainly beats out other similarly priced 17" LCDs. The 1280x1024 native res is a big plus.

Simple: Obtain a Return Authorization Number (RA#) within 30 days of the original ship date by calling 1-877-OUTPOST Quit thinking about it, BUY! Use it ALOT for 3 weeks...anything other than total glee, return it.
I'd do it but I got a 17" Hitachi LCD for Christmas last year!
