I'll probably have to drop another hundred bucks on fiber cables to make everything in my system digital

Got my all my component, opticals and hdmi from monoprice. Very cheap prices.
The other day they had 3ft opticals for under a buck, so you shouldnt have to pay that much.

And the system really does sound awesome with just the stock wiring. I figured id use them before going out and get the 16 gauge that was suggested over on the avs forum. I think i still will since i want white wire to blend in with the walls. I payed $150 very well worth it.

Thanks! $6 and and some change gets me another optical cable (6 ft.) shipped.

Dropped $30 on a 6 ft. cable at BB... I couldn't wait, my system came last Friday.

Looks like refurb is OOS. How's the sound quality/tone on these? Clear with good bass/mid/treble?

I'm looking to replace my old Cambridge 4.1 system and was wondering if it's worth it.

Very good in sound. Nice and clear. The bass is good for a midsize room. Not all boomy like some ive heard. Im not to familiar with higher end stuff
but I was really surprised how well it sounds. I have a ps3 and playing resistance is awesome with 5.1.
I also watched pirates 2 over the weekend and that sounded awesome as well. I didnt have to do to much tweaking as the settings were already pretty good for my room size which is about the area of 15'x12'

Beats speakers in HDTV at a cheap price. Plus my HDTV has optical outputs which this receiver takes.

Thanks for the heads up.. just picked one up myself. Should be a nice upgrade from the tinny speakers on my 27" olevia lcd (I have a 360, modded xbox and ps2 hooked to it.).

You guys will definitley enjoy this system, its excellent especially for the sub $300 HTIB category... Oh yeah, and when you get it mess with the bass and treble buttons ON the reciever itself; you can't get to these settings with the remote and I thought the system sounded muffled until about a week after I had it I finally discovered the buttons!

Anyways, does anyone else have a problem where the speaker levels return to default everytime you turn off the reciever? Mine always goes back to speakers at +2 and sub at +5; kind of annoying but I still haven't opened the manual and read about it...

mmm..forgot about the wires. Monoprice to the rescue! I noticed these wires have this "AWG" number. Does that matter? I know zip about this stuff. I assume any will do?

RRAAAAAAHHHHH!!!! I left home for 15 damn minutes to go to the damn post office and I go home to see a Fed-Ex notice of attempted delivery. Just pulled the trigger on this - I figured, I've upgraded my monitor and my video card in the past year, why not upgrade the speakers to boot?

The bargain hunter in me just couldn't resist >50% off retail... It's about time I retired these ancient Cambridge 4.1 (as in the first 4.1 set they sold) speakers anyways.

I have an Audigy2 with SP/DIF out, that just requires a coax digital cable, rather than TOSlink, right?
