When I was building my HT system I watched this site religiously. Then up popped the TX-SR600. Bought it refurbished and two weeks later it was dead. It's not a refurb for nothing. Still in warranty I brought it in to a local authorized service center and a week later it was fixed. Now, 10 months later it is still going strong. Happy, and I learned something - always get an extended warranty if possible on thermally hot electronics. If it runs hot then it will eventually have problems.

Yes, Fluance speakers! Now you have the best moderately priced HT system money can buy. You are probably now planning the upgrades! This is what a great budget system will do for you. Makes you into a budding audiophile.

I just signed up, got my points, and got the deal for $309. (+$40 for a 2 year extended warranty, and -$10 for my new sign up.)
This is the system I have been wanting. All the reviews say this is a terrific 'all in one box' system. I will post back when they get here!

They're not Klipsch, Axiom, Polk etc., but they're still excellent entry-level home theater speakers that do a good job at replaying music, and an even better job at recreating a 5.1 movie experience. If you have good ears, you might notice that mid-range, while good, could be more detailed and less laid back. But I'm a fan of Klipsch speakers. Besides, the Onkyo receiver will be ready to accept better speakers when you decide to purchase them.

I rigged up a quiet 80mm case fan for my HK receiver. Uses an AC adaptor off a dead piece of hardware, plugged into the receiver's power port.

I have this set up and it is very nice, a new sub would be better but other than that no complaints.

MrPabulum, actually they at least were Polk at one time, if not now. I am not sure. But who cares aboot the brand so long as they sound good. The cabinets alone are worth it at this price so the drivers could always be replaced if the same configuration would suffice.

Robie, if the sub doesn't seem to be cutting it then double check the mode, crossover and level. The Mode 3 (LFE) was defective in a certain production run of the TX-SR500 receiver about 16 months ago just before I got mine (HT-S650).

Missed out one the Onkyo HT-S760 system for $350 a few weeks ago at Circuit City. Now they're getting hard to find. Still found some at 6th Ave for $399. Shipped. I hear this is a slightly better sounding speakers than the lower end models.

Had to jump on this after visiting Frys and there best Onkyo HT deal was for $399. This is a much better deal considering I took the extended warranty and free stands and paid just over $300 delivered.

Just can't beat this anywhere else now.

What I did when I ordered was order the receiver and speakers seperately, free shipping on both when together they woulda cost me a bundle.

BTW does anyone know what Onkyo's standard warranty is for refurbs? I could not find anything on there site (I did not look to hard though)

NM found it.. 1 year for factory reconditioned.

May have to cancel that two year extended warranty.

I was in the Bose store a couple weeks ago.. every receiver and dvd player in the store was onkyo..

I assume Bose thinks their ok.. hehe
