Online assesments

I applied for a new position and they are asking me to complete an online assessment.

The site is bestworkdata.com

Has anyone done one of these? I'm just trying to get an idea of what to expect.

This is what the email I got says:

This exercise will require 25 minutes and is completed online. There is no preparation necessary. You will find the experience to be both challenging and interesting. You must avoid interruptions while you are taking the assessment, and it is best done on a computer that you are familiar with. There is one timed section. Do not be surprised if you do not complete the timed exercise. It is rare for anyone to do so. Be frank and honest with your answers. The information's potential to help _company xyz_ and you depends upon its being a true picture.

read the site, there is an explanation and examples of what they do plus a bunch of other stuff.
They do a big five personality test through that thing apparently.

I looked around a bit but didn't find much, it's a very odd site layout.

I've done it. They're usually timed. Sometimes they take over the desktop to make it hard to look up the answers (like you don't have a laptop or a phone or whatever). Pretty useless in my opinion. I'd rather spend an hour on the phone with a prospect. But if you know the material you probably won't have an issue with it.

Those online apps are really something.

It was about 70 questions like that but even shorter and there were 5 answers from strongly disagree to strongly agree :
"I like to take charge"
Then 5 questions later it would be "I like to be in control" and again with another wording to see if you answer consistently.

After that there was a 15 minute timed portion with 60 cognitive questions. Word problems, math problems, pattern matching/prediction, "which word doesn't belong", etc.

I guess I did ok on it, they offered me an interview within 30 minutes of finishing the test.

They are stupid corporate BS.

But someone gets paid to find that shit for your company to use and it makes them feel important. So take the silly test.

Bonus points if it kicks you out half way through for being a psycho.

Oh bs. It lumps you into a group that it thinks you are a part of based on poorly worded questions.

Come to think of it, HR people are kind of universally idiots, aren't they? Wonder why that is?
