BTW- Be careful when you order, alot of the sites do not have SSL (secure) sites, and some of the sites are not in the United States (I've ordered from Canada, and havent had any problems, but just warning you) ... Also some sites prices are not what they advertise on the lensprice.com ... But many times you can find a good deal on the site.

And don't order too many at any one time (if they offer better pricing for bulk). Before I got laser surgery, I ordered contacts online. I bought like 6 months worth. Unfortunately the last case was a bad lot and they wouldn't let me return them because of the expiration date.

Just as an FYI, I collect glasses and I love foreyes, they have a great deal -- two pair for $100, lenses included. Much sturdier than Lenscrafters/Vista Optical, and they look cool too!

CoastalContacts.com has Optima FW lenses for $14.50/box when you purchase 4 or more and only charges $5.95 for shipping. I ordered 8 boxes and they came on time. Very happy with them...

edit: Good point on ordering too many, maybe I should have down 4 boxes? Also I'm just using the Optima FW's as an example since that is what I get. I assume they have similar deals on other brands/types of contacts. I found CoastalContacts.com by searching for lenses on google.com. I'd try that for extended wear lenses just to see how the different companies compare.

Also interestingly enough I think the same people who run CoastalContacts.com also run a bunch of other websites. Guess they figure if you can only get a few listings high in the search results might as well have more branded websites so you get more customers...

When buying contact lenses check out your local Costco store. I got some Acuvue 2 lenses for $16/box, which is just as cheap as online (or cheaper, considering no shipping charge).

Thanks all for a really informative thread! I think we'll start with Costco, see if she likes them, and go from there.

In Calif. your eye doctor doesn't have to give you the contact prescription to you so you can't order local without it.

Apparently, J&J's Acuvue 1-day disposables are EXACTLY the same as their 2-week disposables, the difference is that for around $15.50 you can get 15 pairs (30 contacts), while normally the 2-week disposables go for around $15-20 for 3 pairs (6 contacts). Awesome deal, I just ordered 15 pairs!

You can also check out this link which verifies these claims.

I just ordered two 30 packs of lenses from iwearcontacts.com (found using lensprice.com) for $36 (after shipping) + free sunglasses! AWESOME DEAL! This would have cost me $180 from my eye doctor! I did heed the warning about not having https, so I called my order in over the phone. They ship from Canada, so I hope they're OK.

Cool beans

I recently ordered from lensland and I'm VERY pleased. About $15 for a box of 30 daily wear Acuvues with free 2nd day air delivery and no tax. This works out to $.50 per lens.

If you have followed the recent class action settlement suit, you know that these daily wear lenses are the same as the week/2 week Accuvues. What a saving...
