Only 5800 in 3DMark05 with 7800GT!

Your ram may be the bottleneck. With that kind of money invested in a rig, you should have a least a gig.

Yes I am stupid. I forgot to turn Vsync off! Now my score is 7171. Not bad but still not good either. 7800GT should be getting 7500+ in 3DMark05. It must be my ram. I'll have to upgrade soon.

Ummm no, a GTX should be getting 7500+, a GT gets about 7200+. (Unless it's heavily OCed)

Oh? I got 7200 or so with a 2.75 GHz 3700+ and a 7800GT. I get 7800 only after I OC to 470/600. Your scores aree about right... Unless you're telling me my system was royally owned to begin with. The RAM should be fine. This is not 3D Mark 2k1 where CPU/RAM speed are the main factors.

1) PC2700 RAM does not "kill" an A64 system. It barely has any effect on it whatsoever. An A64 does not need extra bandwidth, and tests on these forums have already proven that. Granted, he could get better memory, yes, but I don't understand why some of you are jumping to conclusions that his memory is at fault. Now, that brings me to my next point.

2) 512MB of memory will not affect his 3dmark05 score in the least bit. 3dmark05 scores are 99% GPU derived. The only way you are going to see any visible difference in score derived by your system is if the rest of your system is DRASTICALLY more powerful or weaker than what you are comparing to, and even then it won't be more than 100 points differences. When I say drastic, I mean from something such as a P4 2ghz to an FX-57, and even saying that that will show a 100 point difference is being generous.

However, having an extra 512MB of memory WILL help out his gaming situation. Just not 3dmark.

I'm also getting 50xx in 3dmark05 with an almost identical system (A64 3500+, 1gb! ram), leadtek 7800GT.

How do I turn off vsync within forceware/3dmark? Anything else that could be causing the problem?

PC2700 actually isn't THAT bad for the A64 if it's running in dual channel. Especially if you can get it to go at 1T.
