me and my friend went to a movie where no one else was there. it was kinda creepy. It was a discount theatre, had $2 movies tuesday nights. That place was so empty on tuesday. We kept on looking over our shoulders haha

Only with a friend, because I never go to movies alone, but it is cool.

I am suprised at how many people really do go to the movies by themselves, seems pretty common.

Dude i was just going to post that. Do all of you really go by yourself? Now I've been at a showing where it was just me and the person I was with. But never by myself because I would never think to go see a movie by myself. That seems so.. lonely.

99% of the time I go to the movies, it's during work hours.. I'll just take a quick break by myself and go catch a matinée.

Its nice, no crowds, no teenieboppers, etc. Any other time, I am firmly in the "home theatre" camp. Too much dumb fvckery going on during the evenings.

I've been in a few movies where it was just me and a handful of people (the only one I remember the name of was Batman: Begins).

Watching a movie in a packed theater isn't always a bad experience. I saw 300 the day after it came out and people were laughing at the jokes and clapping when King Leonidas beat someone. And there was only one crying baby.

The only time I went to see a movie by my lonesome was when my car was being serviced down the road. It was like 2pm on a college day without classes... good way to kill time. I can't seem to remember what movie it was though... but I know there were a handful of people in there with me.

Can't remember but there were lots more.

Reign of Fire
Ring Two

lol..

both of which are terribly produced movies. I wanted to see jet raptors fighting out dragons.

ring two was too predictable.

good luck

Took my daughter to Shrek the 3rd shortly after it came out. Her and I were the only ones there and she kept making us change seats.

"Daddy, let's try sitting over there....now let's try there...."

Transformers had been out about 2 weeks when i saw it and there were three of us in the theater. I just saw Knocked Up...so i guess that's been out for a month or so. I'd rather see the movies no one else wants to see, because like today when i went to see the Bourne film, there were probably about 25 people there, and one guy had to comment on everything during the film. one of those guys that when it's a tense situation and someone is going to shoot he'll try and predict it and predict lines...i hate people like that.

I'm in the movies at home camp...but with this little theater being so close, and being able to go during the day, i don't mind being one of less than 10 in the theater (even if the movie has been out for 3-6 weeks). It's great.

When I was a projectionist I loved being able to start the movie and see it all by myself. Usually very early thursday or friday I would be able to see what I want, and when you add to the fact that you'd be "checking" the movies for sound issues and or other reel/picture issues - meaning I got paid. Was a great college job.

When they re-released the exorcist my ex-gf and I woke up at about 2a.m. and started it up for just ourselves (I was a manager, along with being the head projectionist). It was very creepy to be in a completely dark buidling with no one when there are usually tons of people, but watching that movie with us alone (it was the first time watching it for both of us), man, that was an experience I won't forget soon.

I was the only person in the theatre to see Signs.

Was at 10pm on a sunday night. quite freaky to watch by yourself in the dark in a big place like that.

Got stoned with a friend, then dropped acid to go to the Midnight showing of 2010, I remember the theater lights dimming then being woken up by the cleaning crew at 3something AM.

I went and saw harry potter with my girlfriend and her sister. There were 2 other people in the back but it was excellent, put your feet up and enjoy.

Actually, most of the time I go to the movies it's like that. I never go on opening night, which is probably part of the reason.

I saw Hunt for Red October at the midnight showing with a few others.
The Firm as well. I got to make a comment during the first scene when Wilford Brimley started cussing. I said, "Eat yer fucking oatmeal!" Giggles were abundant. tee hee

Only once. I was in Kellogg Idaho for some reason, waiting to rendezvous with someone, and needed to kill some time. It was a matinee showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which I had seen about 20 times by then. Pretty damn boring alone.

I took my friend, who is deathly afraid of scary movies, to go see The Exorcism of Emily Rose. The movie was @ 10PM and we were the only ones there. She was flipping out the entire time, kept looking around behind us to see if someone was there. I was laughing my ass off at the time, but she was legitimately freaked out and wouldn't let me leave her apartment for an hour when we got home.

Doubt it. The projectionist probably makes an hourly wage so he may as well play something.
They turn the lights off so that would likely negate the electrical use from the projector itself.

I just went to see Knocked Up today at a 220pm show, and i was the only one in the theater. It was great...i've had a few movies where it's been me and the person i'm with, and that's it...or alone except for one or two other people...i love seeing movies like that. I saw Transformers it was me and one lady and her kid...and neither of them made a peep the entire movie.

yup, love going w/friends when we're the only ones there. we can talk and make as much comments w/o worry about the guy in the next seat.

also love it when with gf in empty theater. she sits in front of me and...

In my case they don't even make any money from snack bar sales.
