Yes, and each burger contains meat from around at least 50 different cows.

No kidding.

How did you manage to get through half of the burger before realizing it wasn't cooked?

I'm surprised this many people don't know why ground beef must be cooked but steaks don't. Now that you've learned, go enjoy your bloody stakes with no fear!

You'll be fine. I've been eating medium-rare hamburgers my whole life and have never had a problem.

Bleach.

Reminds me of the time my friend got half way through eating his burger from Wendy's before he realized the bottom bun was covered in mold

Back in 1999 my wife got e-coli from a raw hamburger. She spent 16 days in the hospital and nearly died. To this day she suffers after-effects from damage the infection did.

Save the remainder of the hamburger & your receipt so if you do die, your relatives can retire rich. (Seriously. If we had saved proof of where my wife picked up her illness, today I'd probably be retired at 37)

If you do not feel sick yet, then you are probably fine. Every experience I have had with food poisoning, the sickness has started within a few hours of ingestion.

You might not die but neither is it fun sitting on the throne all day.

If it was quality, store-bought meat I wouldn't give it a second thought. No idea what kind of bargain-bin hamburger McDs uses, though. In any case you'll probably be fine, but if not, have fun. Food poisoning is not good times.

Sigh...

Your chances of getting e.coli from raw meat is extremely low.

In fact, I always cook my burgers medium (pink inside) and order them that way from restaurants. I've done this all my life and I am 40. I have never had e.coli.

What would I do with the burger? Eat the rest of it.

Dang I thought McD meat comes fully cooked and frozen and all they do is heat it up

Just because you ate a raw bit of meat doesn't mean you're going to get sick. It just increases the odds. (and tastes gross)

that's what I am hoping for. the only reason I am worried is because I remember watching some show where a kid accidently ate some raw ground beef and almost died. Considereing mcdonald's reputation regarding the quality of the food, I am a little worried.

At worst, it's a 1% chance you'll get anything. You're worrying over nothing.

The biggest thing you have to look out for are parasites and in this FDA approved US, with the quality of food we have, there's no reason to worry. Just because you think Mcdonalds is Mcdonalds doesn't mean the beef isn't somehow clean and FDA inspected/approved.

People eat rare steaks all the time without falling over dead.
The FDA has nothing to do with meat inspection.
