Maybe not hot, but for whatever it's worth: I bought a half dozen of these (same looking package insert) for about $5 each including shipping last summer. Two have failed after about 3 to 6 months of daily use by teenagers. We're not particularly destructive, but these things tend to end up on chairs where they get sat on and otherwise incidentally abused in our house. Interestingly, I've checked the two failures and they've both been short circuits in coils - one in the mic and one on one earpiece - the ohmeter showed low resistance meaning it wasn't a broken cable or connection - which of course I would have soldered back. Would $30 or $90 headphones last 5 or 15 times as long in the hands of my kids? Doubt it. Even at $7 these are not too bad in my view if your expectations aren't high....
