The drive (found here) is the 8mb version and the base price is $226.95 with 15% off, then the 10% off on top of that. Brings the price down to around $185, dependant on tax. Free ground shipping as well. The 100gb version is only $10 cheaper, so I say splurge for once. I just bought the dell branded version of this drive over the weekend for $199 shipped, so this is a good deal. Also, it won't last as dell is constantly changing the prices on these drives, and they are only going up. If you don't need that much space or speed, you can get a maxtor 80gb 7200rpm ata133 for around $120 dependant on tax.

This stackable coupon is good on systems as well. Many deals are there ready to be found.

Not sure if you can get much smaller than that I make some big bucks with it too, around $5-10 a week, oh baby. Wow, I have looked at this drive earlier today and even put it in my cart, but never went through with the purchase. A few hours later even the 20 packs of these drives were gone!!! Well, lo and behold, Dell saved me a drive that I put in the cart. Just paid for it a few minutes ago.

I need another Maxtor D740X and was wondering if any of you guys can figure out which are the Fluid "L" drives and which are the Reg "J" drives.

The description on all the D740X's listed describe "Fluid Dynamic" as being available and all the Maxtor part numbers are the reg "J".



I called a sales rep and he couldn't figure it out either they've got the same oem drives listed for just a couple bucks difference so my guess is the more expensive one is the Fluid bearing drive? Anyone know for sure?

i still made my order even though it said out of stock, but the scheduled delivery date is 3/18/02, hope it will get shipped out on that day!!! for $182, you can't find anything cheaper than that.
