this tweaking article should help.

this tweaking was for GF2 GTS and Ultra but basically same stuff. hope that helps. if you still can't find out how.. just live without OC.

I got it to work, I just had to do a reformat.

Anyways, the bad news is that my 3dmark2001se scores were 8653

I was used to 10k + scores.

For 60 bucks I can't complain though.

Yep, looks the same for me. The compgeeks card has the same Conexant TV out chip (CX25871-13) as my LeadTek Ti200, but looks far, far worse. The mouse has trails when it is enabled and it looks like every other pixel in a checkerboard pattern is missing.

I already upgraded to the 3.20.00.12 reference BIOS, but it didn't help at all. Tried both 30.30 and 29.80 drivers... no difference there either.

Either something is wrong with the way the TV out chip is wired up or one of the tweaks I have installed is interfering with the TV out function. I'll try doing a clean install on an extra hard drive I have to see if the latter could be the problem.

This is one really nice card!

Installed it and played with it all weekend. It's twice as powerful as my Radeon was (2x 3Dmark2001SE scores and 2x Quake 3 framerates) and looks every bit as good 2D and 3D quality-wise.

Unfortunately, for me, overclocking it with coolbits doesn't provide me any benefits as it looks like my tualatin/SDRAM combo can't feed it data fast enough to be useful. The core will run at 220 stable and the memory will run at 530 stable but I get no increased 3DMARK or fps until I turn on the AA. Oh well, I guess I can live with 170fps in Quake 3! Looks like this is my last videocard upgrade until I get a new CPU/MB/memory rig.

Haven't tried the tv out and looks like I shouldn't waste my time from what you guys are posting about it.

I believe virtually all nVidia TV-Out is fairly crappy.

BUT you can improve it tremendously with a 3rd-party utility called TVTool. I haven't tried it, but basically it's the only way to go.

Anyway it looks like i got a dud, it reboots my computer when im about to start a game.

I haven't taken the ramsinks it to see the ram speed, but i'm sure its better than my msi g4 ti500.

how to check frames rates in Quake 3:

pulldown the console by typing the ~ key

type timedemo 1
type demo demo001

then watch the fastest fragfest you've ever seen for 20-30 seconds!

when it's done type the ~ key again and the bottom line will be the average FPS for that test.

You can play with the GeForce/coolbits overclocking and Quake quality settings and see what works best.

I know this place is sometimes slow, but this is crazy.

CompGeeks has always been like that. They just have one guy packing the stuff Long time or no, still a good deal IMHO.

I just recently built a machine for a friend.

256 pc2100
Maxtor 30GB 7200rpm
Antec SX830
Pixelview GeForce3
Windows XP

I am using the 29.42 nvidia drivers, and the card is not overclocked. I am encountering a problem in games. The games play fine for a while, then after 10,15,20 minutes, it gets real slow ,like 1 frame every 10 seconds. When this happens, the audio continues normally, but you can really do anything. You can't press [ESC] to go to the menu, and you can't CTRL-ALT-DEL, but it isn't a lockup, it still moves, just very slow.

Could the video card be overheating?

This occurs in Jedi Knight 2, GTA3, and Warcraft III.

Any clues?

I bet your CPU is overheating and throttling back. Check your temps.

I got mine a day ago. Tried OCing last night. I got it to 215/530 running 3D Mark 2001 SE. It was a pretty good improvement over my old Visiontek Geforce 3 Ti200. I've got the ESMT 3.8ns RAM. Great bargain in my opinon. Btw, my friend has some problem OCing his, he can't get it to 500mhz mem level. Any other problem OCing this card?

Rec'd my card yesterday and started testing tonight. Runs 3DMark 2000 @ 220/500 -- a bit higher score than my oc'ed Visiontek G3 Ti200. Nice card for around $70.

Got my card today! The funny thing was tha GTA3 felt slower on this GF3 than on my GF3 Ti200! I still don't understand! Anyway, I did the coolbits trick and bumped the cpu and memory clock to 220/500Mhz. So far no artifacts in 2D. I will post 3D marks scores soon.

I'm still a bit disappointed that this GF3 *felt* slower than a GF3 Ti200! I'll try running GTA3 again in this overclock state.
