The BIOS doesn't matter since it doesn't matter whether the BIOS doesn't read past the 137GB mark since the boot info should be near the front of the drive....all that matters is Windows seeing the full amount. Time was when Windows got its info from the BIOS, now it just keeps all the hardware info on the hard drive.

The BIOS matters when you want to use DOS apps like Ghost or Partition Magic.
Doc's right. If you're going to futz around with imaging programs the controller's BIOS needs to be updated - luckily - I think all the major ATA chipset makers have already made 48-bit LBA BIOSes for their ATA100 controllers.
However, there is a caveat - if you have a motherboard-down controller, as in it's soldered to the actual motherboard, sometimes that requires a different BIOS which is usually integrated into an updated motherboard BIOS.
For PCI ATA cards, it's much easier. So, if you're mobo-down, go to your respective motherboard maker, and if you're using a card, go to the card's maker.
